91 Block the same as 94+?

I can get a 91 3.8 block for free and wondering if it would cause any problems with a 94-98 engine if I were to get it bored etc...

It is the same. there was a change in 88 and from 89 to 95 nothing was done internally again till 96

well crap the next car I get is going to be a 96-97..... what was the change in 96 and will it affect the '91 block

basically the block was reinforced in some areas and the heads were changed. There was a casting number change between 96 and 97 but nothing appeared to be changed

I believe there is complete compatibility from
89-98 but you must use 96-98 heads with a
96-98 lower intake or mod the intakes to fit the
heads, but it is an easy mod. You also have to
use the same year gaskets as the intakes are.

Ok If I sent the block to you what would you suggest the best thing to do with it be :-?

Big Bore and forged pistons, stock (forged) rods
High RPM NA use, baby!

and you could use the forged steel crank strength!

:arrow: I have done lots of measuring and research, I
have found that the bigger bores on a V6 should be very
safe with the proper machining and such, my machinist
has done V6 blocks .060" over and it was great, more is possible.

:arrow: BV heads and a big cam to top it all off! 1.8 RR's
on top of that and the level 2 springs wil complete the pkg.

Have something different with their coolant lines. Like they had a different coolant line comming out of the block.
Is that true?

In the older blocks they had a few extra coolant holes running thru the block and head but a couple were 2 close to the cylinder on the heaad side causing the head problem in 96 they changed the design in 96-97 and futher in 98. Actuall the 98 block is identical to the 99 block minus the new top end stuff
