You will need to remove the shifter console first, it just snaps out by hand. Unhook the accessory power cord on the back and place that piece aside. Next you will pull the surround around the radio and a/c panel off. This pulls off by hand as well. Depending on your year you will need to unplug 2 or 3 buttons on this panel. Place that piece aside.
The 3 a/c knobs pull off by hand by pulling straight out. I believe there are then 3 or 4 screws surrounding the a/c knob assembly. Remove these and the rest should come apart fairly easily.

nah man i used to post up on LSS under the name Drewskie68 i think... that was back when i had my 68 mustang, but i stupidly got rid of it and i lost my password for LSS and to make a long story short i tried to get my password back but i couldnt figure out how to do it... i also may or may not make it out there... mom wants me to tote and fetch my lil brother cuz shell be working and dads out of town... the only tools i can think that wed need are a socket wrench and wire stuff? lol i dno... i got the big blastic lookin thing off and i had no idea where the wires and stuff for my new faceplate would go with my existing wires... if you do make it out there, look for a red 02 V6 with the passenger side mirror missing haha
