ok i have a 99 mustang v6. i was workin on my car and i pulled the cover that goes around the shifter off. i have an auto. its the cover that has the cigarette lighter in it...well anyways i was lookin and to the right of the lighter there is a plug that is just sitting there unused.. does anyone know what it is for??

ok if its traction conrol then why isnt there a button? do u guys think that my traction control is always on or maybe its always off? i was thinkin about goin to the junk yard and finding a 99-01 gt that has the tc button and i was gonna check if its the same plug. maybe it will work. do u think that if it is tc that it is in work able?

i think its like the fog lights back in 94-96 it had the wires but was not hooked up to anything..

Your traction control is permanently off...because your car doesn't have it. Just adding a button in there will do you no good.
As far as what the plug is...who knows, but it will do you no good to plug into it.

im not sure what it goes to but dont cut it. my wife cut hers when she was installing her speakers, she had a lot of probs, the guage cluster lights didnt work, headlights didnt work, wipers didnt work it started to blow fuses, and her check engine light came on.

ok i know its not for the fog light cuz 99s dont have any wiring for the fog lights...and if the wires are there they have to do something so im just gonna get a plug and try it...and im not gonna cut them cuz i know there for something

They are only there because it is cheaper for the manufacture to only have 1 wiring harness build rather than two. Traction control is a software that would need to be on your abs' ecu. Getting a plug for it won't do anything.

If its the T/C then I wouldn't worry about it. I cut mine off everytime I start my car.

If you don't have the traction control button, then you don't have traction control. That is just a "dummy" button so that you dont have just a big whole in your lower dash. Like said before, they use the same wiring harness, but the component isn't there. Don't waste your time/money getting a button, if you didn't miss anything with it until now you wont later either.

ive got almost the same thing going on... whoever owned my car before me decided to put 2 little toggle switches where those buttons go... i had that whole console thing out the other day and theres nothing thats running to the switches... but ery time someone asks about what they are i get to say that they are my nitrous switches

Its probably the traction control or something~ just leave it be.
