How do you flush the coolant from a 99 ford mustang? I'm trying to empty the reservoir. I don't know what that plastic thing that you put the antifreeze in, but I'm trying to drain that. Please help. thanks

There is a little drain plug on the bottom of the radiator, turn that and keep a bucket under it, it'll drain right out.

Hm...about the only way I know to empty it is unbolt it and remove it from the car, turn it upside down and drain it. Only a few bolts holding it in.

Lowflyn is correct. The only way to drain it (short of putting a whole in it ;p) is to unbolt it. It has a plastic arm that goes up about half way THEN connects to a hose, other wise you could just pull the hose off but that wont drain it completely.

You have an overflow bottle and a radiator. The overflow bottle is the yellowish plastic thing that you will see coolant in and the radiator is in front of that (behind that if you are looking at the engine) and goes across the front.

To drain just the overflow tank you just need to unbolt it from the bottom and push it out of the hanger after you have unbolted the top of it. After you drain it wash it out with hot water to remove all the crap in it.

The radiator has a little plastic plug, remove the plug on the passenger side and let it drain out. Then put it back in. This is most but not all of the coolant in the system. There will still be some coolant in the engine~ you can remove it by removing the bolts in the block and let it drain but... I wouldnt worry unless the coolant is more than two/three years old.

After its all drained fill up the radiator then fill up the overflow bottle. Make sure its as full as you can get it then start the car and wait for the coolant to start flowing. Once it does keep a good eye on the overflow bottle and DONT let it go dry, keep fluid in it. Do this while keeping an eye on the temp gauge to make SURE it doesnt go much over the middle. (make sure you KEEP and do NOT remove the radiator cap after you have it filled up)

After a few times it will not need any more fluid. Let the car cool 100% and then repeat the cycle again~ after this you can let it cool then remove the bolt on the top of the coolants highest point in the system and top it off and remove some of the air left in the system. Its on a black pipe like thing in front of the upper intake~ facing straight upwards.

Just keep an eye on it after driving a bit and make sure to keep the fluid correctly filled in it. As far as type of fluid. They make a kind now that is 50/50 mix (what I would use dont use tap water its bad for it) and it can be mixed with any of the fluid. Ford uses a gold coolant or a green coolant~ it just depends on which you have.
