I recently just purchased this and added new air intake, I know the exhaust was modified cause it sounds way to loud for normal gt (sounds awesome) Havent had a chance to roll under there and see what the previous owner did to it yet... Any advice to give me so I can know what mods the former owner did, perfamce chip, gears, throttle, etc.. It runs about 3000 rpm at 80 mph... Also need advice to how hard/easy installing a styling bar is?
TIA

3000 rpm at 80 ... I'm guessing you may have 4.10 gears. To check to see if it has a chip look at your PCM behind the passenger kick panel. If you have one you'll see it.

Herb ... you forgot to change the transmission gearing ratio. Those RPM's you quoted are for 3rd gear in an auto and 4th gear in a manual. You need to change the "1" to .7 for an auto or .67 for a manual.

Damn Your Good !!!!!. using the .67 and 25 inch tire I got 2955 I stand corrected Now all we need to know is it a auto or stick and tire size for the 2nd link to get the gear ratio

I wanted a stick but also yellow drop top, n didnt wanna drive cross country for it) so suto worked... wasnt on freeway today buy at 65mph it was at jus over 2500 rpms... im almost pos its at 3 going 80 if i can recall... I wanna get a new throttle body, perhaps 75mm but everyone says I will get a sticky gas pedal.. hmmm

i had a MAC Throttle body and had a sticky throttle (felt like pulling two magnets apart). for a n/a bolton setup the gains for a TB/Plenum combo are minimal at best, and not worth the issues if you get the sticky throttle, hanging throttle, etc.
at those RPM's its definately geared. i think a 4r70w with stock gearing (2.73s) in OD (4th) pulls like 2100rpm @ 80mph (thats what my tbird did at least).
this is the hardest part about buying previously modified vehicles. unless you knew the owner well or got a full list, its pretty hit and miss until you either figure it all out or replace parts anyways just to know that you did it, a "Peace of Mind" thing i guess. I had this issue when i got my 03 Cobra the first time, really didnt know what was done, pretty vague, then i sold it to a local and kept in contact, and now that i repurchased id i know exactly what was done, and the quality and workmanship behind said mods.
