I read the guide that was posted on the other first time to the drag strip and I was just wondering if anyone recommends doing the powershifting? And how effective is it?

power shifting keep the RPM up where you want them .Just practice the shifting before you hit the track What kind of shifter do you have ?? after market shifter make a huge differance especially on the 2nd to 3rd shift

The Power Shift Shuffle goes something like this- the gas pedal goes to the floor and stays there- never lift! Preload the stick by pulling on it before you reach your shift point. At the pivotal moment simultaneously KICK the clutch pedal and slam the stick into the next gear. Time it right and you will see the rpms climb 200 to 500 rpm between gears and feel a strong surge as the next gear engages.

before you DARE try to shift fast, hard, power shift, etc etc etc etc GET your launch down... if you cut a 3.0 60ft you are WASTING your time power shifting... dont risk breaking your shit on a horrible run. Once you get into the 2.1 or below then start shifting her hard until then just shift quick and normal nothing special...

i got a 2003 mustang GT conv. , not a huge racer, there are tons of mustangs around my area (jacksonville, NC) so when i pull up to the light next to some cocky Marine with a mustang, i like to beat them naturally. I went to the track and ran approx. 14.4, (auto trans) that's w/ spare tire, speaker box w/ amp in the trunk. I added the SLP Loudmouth exhaust, BBK shorty Headers, 75mm Throttle Body, Throttle Body spacer, 80mm MAF Sensor, and a set of underdrive pulley's, any guesses on how much horsepower i gained, and time i cut off in the Quarter??

i'm a marine as well, we are all cocky i say this because, the Mustang is considered the "Me To" car. " oh you have a mustang? me to! i'm sure you understand. but being that i married into my mustang my wife purchased it in early 2004, i don't show boat mine, or beat on it. most young marines can barely afford the car itself, that's why i do small things to stand out that way when we do come head to head, and they are acting like ass holes, i can just leave them w/ no problem. any of that make any sense?

Yep, and understood
Sorta like this guy here in town when I had my v6 mustang, no matter what I could never win. Then, I went and got my GT, and he backs down from racing me. I understand.
Just messin with ya Kyle haha.

theres always huge arguements about who's car is better, and who's is faster, before i added anything i just won the arguement by saying " well mines paid for". but i haven't raced any one, or sent it down the track with what i've added that's why i was curious as so how much horsepower i may have added, and how much time i cut off the quarter. i also have a k&n CAI, i forgot to put that one my first question

If I was you, when you get a free chance, make a drive to your dragstrip and take it down the track. Then you have some papers and what not. If your curious about hp and tq, go to your local performance shop, tune the vehicle with the mods you have done, and watch you shave a few tenths off and increase your hp and tq.
