Sup guys, got a question. How much hp will my 02 block hold. Right now im pushing just under 300 rwhp with 13.5 pounds from a p-1sc. But this winter I was planning to swap out the upper end and cams with a stage 3 kit from supersix. They say it will give a 90+ hp increase. Right now Im shifting at about 5800rpm. Id appreciate some light on the subject since there are no other sixers around my town. The people I have talked to said the stock block can only hold 400hp. thanks

Your block will be fine, what you want to upgrade will be your rotating assembly. I would definitely look into forged internals...especially with 13.5 lbs of boost, that's pushing the limit.

Actually, last time I heard, A v6 block has never broken. Its always the internals that go.
Makes me proud.

Must not be pushing enough power through it.

I would say 500 or so for the block~ no one really knows some are far over and some are under and they go... just depends on how you treat it.

Thanks for the info. But would there be a significant price difference if i were to drop in stock forged internals w/ main girdle vs. maybe a forged stroker kit (boring, etc.). Im trying to minimize the amount of times I tear apart the block ( Even though i do so every winter). Im not a big fan of wasting money if I do have to though either.

the blocks soo far seem realy strong. its the stock rods and pistons suck. putting a main girdle on one will not help if you still have stock rod and pistons.
my suggestion is to do good rods and pistons with a Real main girdle(not a stock one) main studs, head studs. and all the good parts to complemnt your combo.
at 13.5 psi you realy should be making more then 300rwhp unless you have no other mods and its a auto with a REALY safe tune.
also look into
rpm-mustangs.com.
they both also carry what you are looking for.

Yea since Im shifting at 5800rpm I have a pretty safe tune. It runs a little rich too, which doesnt help the hp any. But I think the place that I took my car to get tuned was inexperianced with mustangs or something. Seeing as my Pony is descently moded. I have a full exhaust w/ bbk shorty headers, bbk 94-95 gt o/r h-pipe(moded by cutting and welding shut the cross pipe), summit 2.5 catback w/ aero chamber mufflers from hooker. Also a fully built rearend w/ 4.10s and traclok, built auto tranny w/ stock gears. ignition from performance distributers. What numbers should i be looking at. Last time I ran it she ran a 13.21 at 111mph.

As others have said, the block is the last thing you'll have to worry about. It's the bottom end.
