So I got fired today...

Ok, I hope everyone is sitting down....because I actually have 2 pieces of good news. Y'all ready?

1.) My mother came home yesterday. She is sore as all hell from the CPR and we keep telling her all about what happened. Her short term memory is all fubarred, but at least she has the chance for fubarred memory. They said this is common when someone goes into full cardiac arrest. It should come back, they said it takes time.

2.) I was offered a job this morning. I went to an in person interview this morning with the Louisiana Dept of Education and they are going to bring me on to work on their application that lets them track all the special ed students in the state and submit to the fed gov't for their funding.

Granted this was offset with my dad collapsing yesterday about 2 hours after we got my mom home, but, it was just another one of his spells and came out of it pretty quick. I have been waiting for it with all this stress the last few days...but it is some good news none the less. The last few days have been a living hell and have really pushed me to my limits...and a bit beyond. It has been rough, but at least we are slowing climbing out of it.

Now, we just need to figure out how to get my mom her meds as they are the really expensive stuff.

Also....this is for about 1.20 less per hour than my last job, but this one includes 26 paid days off per year, holidays, and they pay 100% of my medical, dental, and vision insurance.....all of which are something I haven't had for the last 5ish years...so that 1.20 less per hour is easy to accept.

Plus, I get a nice big window cubicle over looking a lake and the mississippi river.

As with the short term memory loss... When my aunt came home.. there would be days where she'd think she was back before her time in the hospital, and we'd have to explain everything to her over again.. it takes a long while.. but be glad she's still with you..

Guess they have decided to relocate my position to Harrisburg, PA. Shockingly enough, they gave me 3 weeks notice this time....so at least that is cool.

I have a couple lines on some positions at local shops that I am going to pursue to get out of this software consulting roller coaster world I live in....and also a lead at a local web development shop I am also going to pursue since I have more experience doing that.

But yeah, anyhow, they want me to keep up my work until the 29th....then I am no longer needed.

Man, I can't wait until we can get our own shop opened. Anyone know of an investor willing to front some money for startup? We have some great ideas to bring to the automotive world.

We've figured out our startup costs and for all the tools, equipment, licenses, permits, first year's rent on a building, etc...and the first years salary for the three of us, we would need around $250k to start up. That would get us through the first year solidly...so if you could add a few zeros on to your offer, we'll take it.

nope, but ill be an employee anytime. i know you dont want to hear it but you can make a killing if you know how to mod and tune turbo cars.

im thinking about ditching the 9-5 office politics and bullshit and going into a field doing stuff i like, meaning anything with cars. Id love to do detailing or modding.

that was an older post. im already here now down in arlington by the pentagon. my rent is $1478 for a 950 sq ft 1br (utilities included though)! not only that but i have to commute 30min to an hour every friggin day to mclean by tyson's galleria... sometimes all the way out to one dulles. those 95s are killin me. thats why i traded in the mustang for a mazda 3i lol - gotta love that highway mpg. the cost of living is adjusted pretty nicely but owning a house seems impossible.

and for those who want to work in a shop, be forewarned that you are making work out of your hobby and it can lose its appeal as a hobby when you are doing it all day to pay bills.but on the brifght side, you will like your job...

I got into grad school.... so for the next 2 years, I'm up here! (at least the next 2 years anyway). Of course, by then you guys will be up and running smoothly.
