So I'm thinking of a new car... this time next year I will most definitely have one. I'll probably buy it (new or used) around the 08 to 09 switch next year (also so I'll have my feet on the ground a bit after moving to DC). I'm looking for a daily driver car that is decent on gas with a bit of power.
So far I narrowed down my choices to the ones in the attached picture. They aren't in any specific order, but have a wide range of the power to gas efficiency ratio.
Feel free to vote, make recommendations, etc.
Also, some additional research info that you don't have to read...
The Altima, Taurus, and Fusion are pretty much similar in pricing (low to mid 20s). The Taurus is basically the Fusion's looks applied to the 500 (I heard they rebadged the 500 right before a car show). The other 3 are cheaper, but are definitely better on gas.
I kinda have my heart set on the Altima coupe... its a more affordable, better on gas, and recieved higher ratings than some of the more expensive cars I like such as the g35.
I'm also a bit worried that gas prices will skyrocket and I will be stuck with a car with no resale value and monthly payments.
Comments, suggestions, etc are open.

I say fusion. When I get married, it will be the vehicle I get for a family/dd car. I think they look great, have decent power with the V6, so I have heard, and is just all around a good car.

It has a 3.5-liter V6 rated for 270 hp at 6,000 rpm and 258 pound-feet of torque at 4,400 rpm, 6 speed manual. 60 mph in 6.4 seconds and a quarter-mile in 14.8... not too shabby... its all that im looking for honestly.

Of those cars the Mazda 3. I would go with the turbocharged Mazdaspeed version.

the altima is nice. my roomate is thinking about one.
the hp on it is just way better than the others in your comparison...though it's mpg isn't anything to write home about.
you gotta choose between mpg and power...obviously

Altima. sadly all the others are garbage. IMO Nissan has the most well-rounded lineup of vehicles right now, if i was looking into that type of vehicle, i would check the Nissan dealership first.

the new altimas are VERY nice looking and the v6 is supposed to be pretty nice. as funny as it sounds, as much as i love mustangs and really, really wanted one (but was having difficulty finding a GT without a huge payment when we were looking for a mustang for me), i had previously had a hard time trying to choose between a new altima and a mustang GT. obviously, i went with the GT (no regrets there), but altimas are really nice cars. very affordable too, most come with lots of options. still very sporty, but a great daily driver and better on gas. i wouldn't mind getting one someday with a baby, but right now, my mustang is all i want. i would go altima for sure though!
