I just ordererd Pypes 409 Stainless Steel Violator Axle-Back with
Polished 304 Tips (2005+ GT).
They will be delivered 12/05/07, so I will be installing them that weekend. I have never done this before so any input from some of you with experience would be very appreciated. Thanks!

I recently installed Pypes 304 polished Violator Axle back on my 07. They are pretty easy to install. What you have to do is remove both muffler hangers, then loosen the band clamp on the mufflers, then remove the mufflers. The hangers are easier to mess with with the new mufflers, but they do have to be removed. After you have the mufflers removed, place the hangers on the new mufflers and reinstall. I didn't even have to raise the car to do this swap. You may have to get pretty creative to get both mufflers level when installing, but it wasn't too bad. You will appreciate the new sound, however in my vert, there is a little drone inside. I ordered mine from Brenspeed on a Monday afternoon, and recieved them on Wednesday afternoon. I was real pleased with the price and speedy delivery.

I got mine through american muscle and since they are on the east coast and I'm in ca it takes like 5days for delivery.. so I have to wait till next weekend (sucks). But ya I have seen some good reviews and comments on the product so looking forward to it. Just want to make sure I get them on even. Thanks for the advise!

one more thing... you said "You may have to get pretty creative to get both mufflers level when installing". Was that a big enough pain in your mind for me to maybe have muffler shop install them?

No, it really wasn't too bad, most people probably wouldn't have even noticed that one muffler was a little tilted, however, I noticed and it drove me nuts. It truely only takes about an hour to install them. I did have to place a block of wood on my floor jack to get the right muffler aligned better. I guess I need to take some more pictures of the car with the new mufflers installed to upload. right now the car is sitting in the garage under its cover while my truck is sitting in the rain getting dirty. Where in CA are you? i spent 3 years at Beale Air Force Base in Marysville from 83 to 86.

See that is how I'am with my car everything has to be perfect, I even get nervous when I take it in for an oil change at ford. I will go for the install myself. The weather is just cold out here but the sun is out. I do the same thing the car sits in the garage and the explorer sits in the drive way. I just hit 10,000 miles on the GT and it is an 06.
I did put a mesh grill upper and lower on it but that has been it.
I live in Sacramento so ya I know where beale is at. When I get home tonight I will throw some pics up so you can check it out the grill.

I am pretty lucky, I have the garage space to park my Avalanche in the garage, but it is sitting in the parking lot at work now. And of course, it is black too so it really shows the dirt. Nice low mileage for an 06, my 07 Av already has over 20,000, but at least the stang hasn't hit 3000 yet. I have been looking at getting an intake, chrome or stainless front strut tower brace, rear control arms chrome 18 inch wheels, a billet grill and other billet interior pieces. So far all I have is the mufflers and a carbon fibre front lip spoiler.
I really didn't appreciate Northern CA until I left. That is partially due to having two young children back then so I couldn't afford to really get out that much. We did hit up on the flea market at Roseville quite often though.

We have a two car garage.. so with that being said the wife gets one side for her car and I get the other for the stang... So the explorer gets the dog house but it is a 97 with 160,000 miles. Those are some awesome add on's can't wait to see them as you add them. I think the next thing after the pypes will be the airraid cold air intake for me.

I can relate to not enough space, currently I don't have that problem. As for the add-ons, the front lip spoiler can be seen in some of the photos in this forum. The topic is Rc Carbon Fiber Bumper Lip. It will probably take me years to get all of these added, especially since I won't replace the wheels until the tires need replaced.

ya it is kind of hard to see the spoiler.. Nice ride though! I will have to take some pics of mine and throw them on here. Are those the pypes? Or are those factory? I actually drove mine in to work today and took it out at lunch it is probably 64 and no clouds sun is out wanted to keep going.

I just put my Pypes back on last night took about 45 minutes. I did have to slightly bend the hangers to get the up and down even as well as the side to side. You will like the sound but at 1500 - 1800 RPMS the drone is pretty bad.

So to adjust do you have to take the pypes off again? Or can it be done after you have put them on.. I'm still waiting on delivery this wednesday.

I had to bend the hanger so I took them on and off a few times. The drivers side only required one adjustment. The passengers side was on and off 4 times to get it perfect, then I had to loosen the h pipe and twist it so the mufflers were level. It's no big deal, just get the car up on jack stands and they're very easy to remove, plenty of room to get your hands in. My stock mufflers never sat right in the cut outs so if your current mufflers are straight and level you might only have minor adjustments.

I didn't have much trouble with the eveness in the cutouts, just the muffler body being crooked. With the floor jack though I was able to hold it at the right angle to get it straight.

Easiest way to straighten the muffler is just loosen the band clamp at the H-pipe have someone help twist the muffler, so it sits level then tighten the band clamp.

One muffler was perfect, wouldn't twisting the H-pipe move both? I would have to have my wife crawl under the car to twist the H-pipe too, I just don't see that happening. :o)

They just came in!! the drivers side pype is bent a little bit where it connects to the exhaust. But it is where the crease is. I'm thinking not a big deal if there is a crease it is meant for bending purposes anyways. So tempted to throw them on.... but I don't want to run into what you did with the fit.. I would be up all not trying to make them straight and be dragging at work tomorrow.

They're actually very close, but it took quite a bit of bending and twisting to get them that way.

those turned out good man! I installed mine last night they sit a little lower then I wanted.. but they look good. I will take a pic and throw it on this week. The only thing is mine aren't stainless on the muffler... I thought they where by the pic on americanmuscle.com. But I'm still happy with what I got.

My first install they were way to low, I had to bend both hangers back to pull the mufflers up. Do you like the sound?

haha. Santa? She'd buy that excuse. Take it to the bank. That's what I would tell my wife anyway.. He gave these neat Pypes and for his trouble, treated himself to a small fund out of your bank account. It's buyable...
