94, 302 running really rough, rebuilt the transmission (screwed for $1743.00),replaced distributor and it ran beatifully for about 6 hrs then it sounded like it flooded out when i was diving down the road. it would not restart. it has gas, i've checked the air valve on the passenger side fuel rail, replaced the coil, plugs, and wires but it still is not getting spark. any suggestions would be great. i'm tired of dunping money into this money pit.

When you checked the valve on the fuel rail, did any fuel spray out? there ought to have been sufficient pressure, and plenty of fuel there, no air should have come out...

yeah fuel sprayed out not air. someone told me it could be the ignition module but were is it, its not on the distributor

There is a module on the distributor that tends to fail, and often with the same symptoms you're having -- http://www.coolcats.net/tech/trouble...mages/tfi1.jpg

Something simple to try, unplug your mass air sensor (right after the airbox or filter, in case...) then try to start the car...

its the pickup in the distributor. i replaced it and the car is now back firing, i don't know how to set the timing

Without a timing light, a quick fix would be to loosen the one bolt holding the distributor in place, and rotate the distributor til the car stops backfiring, then go a little further and bolt it down, take it for a spin, if it pings, rotate a little further...
