All this talk about Wii being obsolete within a few years, but hypothetically won't all of them become obsolete within the next few years due to flash based hard drives becoming the standard?

Wii is going to be obsolete within 2 years, it has no shelf life. sure its fun now, but its graphics is somewhere between the N64 and the PS2, and its gameplay styles will become tiresome soon. everyone i know that bought a Wii is now selling theirs, one is going with a 360 and the other just build a gaming PC
PS3 and the 360 have a shelf life of almost 4 years before their hardware becomes obsolete, even though they will continue to make games past their obsolete date (IE look at the PS2, it was obsolete the day it was launched and it still sells more than the PS3!).

Are gaming systems are like that now. Atleast, that's how it feels with my 360. The only use it gets is from my girlfriend playing Oblivion.

Its definitley getting blurry.
I always saw the Wii getting old fast, all my friends got them. And....they are all selling them as well.

I still don't see it ever being fully crossed where they are one in the same.

video games are definately not a kids industry.
i think our generation is going to be into games till we croak. maybe not as avid in the older years but well still know how to play them and not be all "you dang whippersnappers and your newfangled video games! in my day we listened to the radio or played outside!" like our parents or grandparents are today. i think its possible our children wont be into games, i know buddies with kids and they are around 6ish and have no will to play games whatsoever and would rather be outside. which is great, we need a generation of kids who would rather play outside than sit inside playing games, maybe we wont have as many fat kids waddling around.
PC's are great if you can justify the price tag that goes with building one to play games. I can, because i use my PC for everything, for me, spending 600$ on a 360/PS3 setup and then 4-500$ on a low-end dell PC to browse the net is retarded, when i can spend the same amount and do both on one piece of equipment. most people dont make this correlation, they talk shit about PC's and that consoles are great, then get instantly defensive when i ask them to add the price of their console and the pc they are typing said post on with, and compare that to a PC Rig that can do both, and do it better.
if i already had a bigger TV/HDTV or the like, and didnt care much for browsing the net (like a few of my fellow console gamer buddies), i might buy a console, but fuck, thats like 1000$+ for a TV and 600$ for the console setup, thats a 1200$ rig plus a 22-24" widescreen monitor right there. most say Consoles are better since you can play them on a bigger TV, when its really not true. a 55" Widescreen you stand 6' away from will have the same viewing size as a 19" widescreen your face is about 2' away from, so in reality this is another moot argument that i catch people on. actually, a 19" widescreen at 2' distance has a larger viewing area than a 55" at 6' distance methinks. id have to do math but im pretty sure it would work out.

I have both console and PC. each has there games to play. And each I like. But I have been playing the PS3 more then the PC lately. My Wii kinda sits. It is more for when a group of us are around. Just 1 or 2 people it isn't the best thing.

PS3 is to much money when for twice that you can guild a PC that will play most of the games... if the PS3 was a decent price then sure... but its not. Same goes for the Xbox.

actually for about 200 more then the 80gig PS3 I can build a pretty good PC that will play games..I have been in need of a new one and been wanting to get the best bang for my buck. No it wont be the top of the line everything, but something that wont be hard to SLI when the few extra bucks roll in to get another vid card.
But to me, like I said, I have both. I will always have both. Some games I will only be able to play on a console. Some only on a PC. then there are the types I just wont play on either or. I.E. sports games on PC suck. But I dont like flight sims on a console. Most FPS games on PC. Others they built around a console almost perfectly, take Halo, Call of Duty, The Darkness, even the origional Medal of Honor on PS2. They play great on a console without pressing 4 buttons to throw a grenade.

I like them both, the nice thing about a console is I know every game that comes out on it is going to run right... No choppy video, crap graphics, etc.
