pretty much. its a clusterfuck, wrapped in an enigma. however if you *could* do it yourself, that manual above will make things way way easier. basically i hear working on trannies isnt too hard, you get a long ass table, and you lay everything out, in order, the exact way you took it apart, then work backwards when re-installing everything. i remember seeing my tbirds 4r70w layed out in this fashion, each ring/gear overlapping the subsequent one on a long ass table, then when the guy reinstalls everything, he just works down the line, piece by piece.
