Decision is made...KB 2.8H

Check out this chart. This ~20 psi on the KB 2.8H...sitting on a completely stock motor...stock displacement...stock manifolds...stock internals...running on 93 pump gas...15* timing max. I got to watch this car last night on the dyno. I have been wrestling with the idea of the 2.8...and, while it does look like a shoe box, I believe my decision is final now.
Look at the torque curve...it would give a dinner table a run for its money in flatness....
They are going to let the car get broken in again as it has sat for 4 months getting work done on the tranny and the blower....then after the first of the year they are going to drop the boost and up the timing and see what happens on 93....then they are going to go back up to 20 psi and run some 100-104 through it and see what shakes. I look forward to that.
Let me just say...it its current condition, it pulls from 4000-6000 just like it does from 2000-4000...confirmed by the torque curve...it just doesn't fall off at all...pulls forever.
This should work nice on the planned 302...or possibly a 324 if I feel spunky....stroker I have planned.

WIth what? Hell, I'm at least 6 months from doing this...just had to share I finally made up my mind. Now, I just need to make the final decision on 302 vs 324...the idea of nearly a 5.4L is awfully tempting tho....

after seeing the amount of crap the guy i know went through with his 2.8H its not worth it IMO.
then again, his goals are 550hp as a DD, which the 2.8H is definately overkill, and on 91, nearly impossible to tune for that kind of airflow. even with the 4" pulley at 15ish psi, he has very little timing, lots of fuel enrichment, and only put down 525/460. his current tab is 8500$ for the setup (includes price of KB, support, installation labor and tune). then again, he is the SpeedFreaks guy that were sure they are just retarded.
i told him his goals he needs a 2.2 not a 2.8H. it will be easier on everything if he gets a blower more suited to his needs/goals.
i think if you are shooting for the moon, the 2.8H will be great. i say Good Luck, cause its going to be quite the process, just remember, shit will break, and you gotta pay to play, especially at those levels.

Stuff is going to break, for sure...hell, I'm breaking stuff now at 500. I agree, the 2.8 is way over kill for his goal...the 2.6 is what he should get and be done with it.
As for my goal....I have decided the moon is where I want to get to. Seeing this car put down the 600 on 93 pump in stock form with just a BAP....really made me feel good. Now I can go ahead and get the project in parts...get the 2.8 now, and then get the stroker later...I was expecting to have to do it all at once. This was good news....The only change I am going to have to make is going to be my lower pulley in order to run pump gas. Homeboy had a 4# lower and the 4" upper to get to the 20-21 psi he measured...I'll have to get a 2# lower ring...or the 4# if this guy's change over doesn't net good results. Then run the 6#'er at the track or on fun nights.
None the less...I was just impressed with the torque curve on that sheet....which was most of the reason I started the thread. It looks even better with a smoothing of 5....but I'm too lazy to open the run file and export the image again.
So, my thought is to run the 19-20 psi for the time being while the car is a DD...then, once I make it a weekend warrior again, turn it up a bit and run more octane.

God if I had a cobra I would so grab that 2.8 and roadrace alllllll day in it. That curve, if you can call it a curve, is very very nice. I mean there is no discernible peak and thats just freakin awesome to me lol.
