engine swap 01 gt

The only thing different with the 04s over the 01 was the trans, if manual.. auto was the same, as far as I know, the more knowledgeable will have some input shortly, I'm sure...

After looking up a bit more, everything's interchangeable, but I'm still not sure on clutch/flywheel if manual... It wouldn't be hard to swap it over! Just be sure the new motor has a pilot bearing in the block, if it came out of an automatic and you're putting it into a manual car --

flex plate/auto are the same... everything else should be a direct swap

In 01 didnt they move to the new tranny? So it should be the same right?

They changed trannys mid way through 01

The trans will work also you just have to make some "adjustments" there is nothing that will not swap over. I put a 01 motor in my 96 and only problem i had was a wiring harness issue.The wiring problem is the 96 used two different coolant sensors and the 99-04 used 1.

better make sure the 01 computer will work with the new motor as well, not sure myself just a thought?

I am using a 96 computer with a 01 motor.

the computers are different your right that is the only thing

With the swap the only major issue you will have is if you decide to use the coil on plug setup.You have to have the 01 computer and a tune plus tons of wiring.I used the stock coil packs with the 96 ecu.It ran fine also you will need the 96 IAC.

I need to swap my engine from a '01 GT. I have no idea where to go for this kind of work. I don't know nothing about parts or repairs so most terminology is another language to me.

Can you please tell me where would you go (or how to search) for a trustworthy place to do an engine swap?

Well it isn't hard to do but if you have never pulled a motor or anything i would just pay someone.Maybe you can find someone local who will just help you do it and make sure you dont make any mistakes.
