Does anyone know what you need to put a tranny from 1998 mustang in a 1993 mustang?

the tranny from the 98 is a T-45 so it wont bolt up right unless they make a bellhousing to adapt it to match a 5.0L engine. The normal tranny in the 93 is a t-5.

FYI the speedo is mechanical until 99 where it went to electronic.

Or you can get a T-5 out of a later model 6-banger. They were running T-5s into the 99+ years I believe.
.... I'm not 100% on whether or not things will be a direct match though. I think the output shaft was different, but don't quote me on that.

I found out that it is a tranny from a v6. Is the output shaft the only thing that has to be changed?

HMMM, i know dat the output shaft has to be changed when using a fox body 4cyl. t-5 to put on a v-8, but i know guys that run it as is. i'm run'n one of those over priced racing aod's so i probably have no business in this commenting, as soon as i got my coupe i yanked out the t-5.

the input shaft will have to be changed as well... the trans for a v6 has a longer bellhousing. I have heard of guys taking them to a machinest and turning the input shaft down.

I have heard the opp. as well that the tranny bolts right up... so I would research to double check. I dont see ford changing out the input shaft when they dont have to.

I'm gonna say no..... Unless you spend more money on machining than it would cost for the T5....

spec. I believe it depends on wether or not the T-5 is going into a fox or not. I'm not 100% as i've never wanted to run a v-6 tranny..

The thing is the later model V6's made more horsepower than the Fox 5.0L's. I wouldn't worry about it not holding up.

the 99+ T-5 is supposed to be stronger than any 5.0L (stock) T-5 so they say.

193 > 225.
More importantly...
225 > 300.
Got it.

i was wondering if it it possible for me to a 4 cyl 5 spd to a 302 i am just trying to put this together temporaily i inderstand that it may not last long but the 302 that i am putting in it for the time being is nothing special at all it's just a stock 302 with a 2 barrel carb so it really doesn't have much power at all but i would like to just drive the car for now while i am building the other motor......
