I have an 01 Mustang and I also have Eibach lowering springs. Well I have hit a couple of speed bumps and torn up the passenger side BANK 2 converter so the check engine light came on. I called the Ford dealership to get it replaced and they wanted about $2,300 just to replace the CATS. I thought this was ridiculous so I went to the muffler shop and the CAT he had was way to thick. So I need some help on places to get good prices. Also if you cut a CAT off and run a straight will it cut down on HP?

Where do you live? This makes a big difference on what you should do...if you end up having to have a replacement I have my stock cats sitting on the back porch and I'll chop that one off for you and send it your way.

You do not need to worthy about having cats in SC, I don't have them anymore. I don't know how a catless v6 stang would sound though.

Like my catless v6 stang...man you can find an off-road h pipe online for under 200 bucks, that's the route I'd go.

Does taking the cats off reduce HP though?

No not really.

It might feel a little slower down low but you will move the power higher up in the revs.

When you bottom them out, sometimes the substraight breaks. If this breakage turn sideway in the case, it will cut off all flow through that case. Think of a ballvalve open and closed.
Or if you run too rich a mixture you can plug a converter with carbon.

I don't know if you've seen what one looks like on the inside but imagine the screen for your windows in your house.

If you put a fan in your window the screen collects dust as the fan blows it out of the room and through the screen out the window.

I would just pick a set of high flow cats out of jegs or something and find someone to weld them in for you.
