Upgrade complete... now what?

I installed my sub and amp today!!! Sounds AWSOME!! Its a 12" 800 watt (max) powered by a bridged 2 channel 1000 watt amp. It is in a sealed box, in trunk facing back. Its sounds good but when back seats are down its is even better. I was crazy to think I needed two subs.

Now here is a question for the experts... how do I get my mids and highs up to par with my lows. I have tweeters and my speakers are all upgraded from stock to polk audio speakers but my sub drowns them out. I know I could turn down sub, but then it is too weak. More speakers? thanks ya'll.

Well you could always amp your speakers.

Either that or turn the sub down and tune it to where it has real good low volume response, play your music a little lower but the sub will hit just as hard.

Its hard to explain but I had the same problem when I put my new amp in. The bass overpowered the speakers. So I just lowered the volume on the cd player and messed with the bass boost while turning the gain down. I got the sub to hit hard on the lower notes but not so loud as to drown out the music.

I listen to rock though so if your a basshead with like techno or rap then you may not like the sound.

I listen to rock to and it drowns out the mids. not so much highs. I will mess with bass boost. thanks.

Do your aftermarket speakers have crossovers? I'd amp these speakers and mess with the crossovers to get the sound how you want. Basically...cut 95% of the bass out of the door and rear deck speakers and focus on getting clear mids and highs.

I think I AM going to get new speakers and amp them. 400 or 600 4 channel. I got my bass set today. oddly enough it sounds best with woofer level -3 and response 80hz and lower on the deck. and depending on the song my little remote thing can finely adjust it for the perfect hits. I need louder now so amp and new speakers are next, but when I dont know but theyre next.
