airbag light

|
my 96 mustang airbag light comes own and blinks when the car first starts. after you pick up alittle speed it will stay own. any suggestions? |

It is flashing a code ????? the sensor has determined that there is a problem with the air bag system. it will flash the code for 5 or more times and the the light will stay on. it will be a 2 digit code. count the flashes to determine the code. Your Ford dealer can tell you what the codes mean and where to look for the problem. or if it's just the fact that the light bothers you remove the fuse for the airbag or the sensors from your dash

yeah it blinks a few times i never counted them but i will. i probably will try to get them to fix it i dont like the light and taking the fuse out is a good solution but id rather fix it just in case. |

Good idea on getting it fixed !! The removal was just a option .

Have you tried resetting the CPU ?? disconnect the battery(Positive side), hit the brakes a few time or turn on the headlight to discharged any juice left in the system reconnect in 10 minutes

my light has been on for a while and disconnecting the battery dont work.

Current mods: CAI, UDP's, MagnaFlow cat back dual out, new engine (6k), 3.45s and traklok!!
Soon to be mods:SSM stage 3 splitport swap, 11+psi, weight reduction.
Very soon mods: Vortech V-2 supercharger (4-6psi), port and polished TB, 70mm MAF & 19# injectors.

count your blinks and call ford. tell them to get out their book and look up the number of blinks. I just did mine. I counted 14 and it means there is a short in the system somewhere. the # could be different for different years but thats what I got. now I get to go through my wiring and figure it out..... PITA
