Hello, I am new here and recently purchased an 06 Mustang V6. This is going to sound like a total girly question but my car is VERY loud. It has a really loud rumble to it, moreso than normal. Everyone always asks what kind of exhaust etc I have on it to make it loud but the truth is, I have no clue! All I know is it was like that when I bought it and I love it :-) I would like to find out what has been done to it to make it so loud, how do I do that?? :-) thanks!

have a look under the back bumper at the exhaust, sometime's the tips will display the brand on top, or the muffler will have the brand stamped into it...
Oh and welcome to the site, and congrats on the new car

welcome to the site
the more difficult way is to crawl underneath and take a look at it... a pic could help someone on the site identify the muffler.. hell, i bet some could with a sound recording haha.

Welcome to the site! +1...I have MagnaFlows and they say MagnaFlow Performance on top of the exhaust tips like MonteCitan said, I would check there first. If you can't figure it out and can upload a sound clip, I'm sure most of the guys would be able to tell you, haha. "VERY loud" to one person isn't always very loud to others, but if you are happy with it and like the way it sounds as it is, all the better for you!
Congrats on the purchase, enjoy the site.

Welcome & it could just be a worn out muffler, time for a new one maybe.

That's always another possibility. Mine had an exhaust leak when I first got it, so it sounded as if I had aftermarket parts on it.
But Welcome!

You never know, if she's up North...road salt, or near the coast, sea salt will eat a car up.

Nope, I'm in Tennessee and we dont get much snow here.. I sure hope the car has had something done to it and not something wrong such as a hole in the exhaust. I will have it checked out but was trying to avoid the ever so fun going to the car repair place telling the guys that my car is loud and I dont know why :-) That will go over well. Thanks for all your help!

I highly doubt its something wrong with the exhaust being as its an 06. You can go to the lot and take a look at some of the stock v6's exhaust and muffler and compare to yours. You may see thats yours is different

yea, i agree with spec about it probably not being a problem being an 06.
just check the undercarraige. it might not say anything on the mufflers..and in that case you'll have to contact the previous owner or post a sound clip

its easy to put on a new axle back exhaust on the 05+ stangs. The muffler is at the very back of the car so its easy to get to. A good many people do it I am sure or it could have had one welded in easy as well~
