Exhaust leak... Loss of power and MPG?

I have an exhaust leak in on the right side at the h-pipe/collector. Is it just in my head or is my car running like poop with the leak? Also Could this affect MPG?

Too early in the morning on a saturday lol.

Depending on the size of the leak it could lead to problems. If you know where it is why not fix it? May be as simple as tightening down the collecter/midpipe bolts.

my sentiments exactly.

exhaust leaks (especially pre-cats) can cause lots of issues. if the exhaust is leaking before the front o2 sensors they are getting strange readings than they should be, and thusly could be fooling your ecu into running very rich or little timing or whatnot.

simple solution = fix the leak.

id assume it wouldnt pass inspection either. depending on the leak's location, size, etc it could be very simple and/or cheap. the loss of MPG might be directly related to the leak or the leak might just have decreased performance which causes you to drive harder? i dunno im not that knowledgable on that subject matter.

I'll get around to it in a few days; I was just wondering any side effects because of it. I don't drive my car "very often" now that it's winter but I did take a trip down to KY this week and was wondering if it could have anything to do with my "feeling" of lack of power. It's like I'm driving with the A/C on.

No inspections in the horrible state of Michigan. It's the states only redeeming quality. I have noticed a slight decrease of MPG in the city but the freeway with my tune I still manage to get 28.6 MPG at 65-70mph.

with the engine running go to the passenger side on the engine and accelarate the car and and let it go quick if you see smoke coming from the back of the engine bay you will need to replace the gasket that goes in between the header and the exhaust pipe.

yes car will run like poop with a leak that used to happen on my 92 gt with bbks shortys the bolts would come loose on headers and blow gasket happend twice till i bought locking bolts pain in the ass and drove me nuts always lossd hp with the small lak u prop blew the gaskey if bolts are loose by the collecter
