Hey guys, another quick question for all the experts out there.
My 04 v6 auto is goin on 55k miles, i just bought it 2 days after christmas and havent done any maitanance on it whatsoever, i still have another 1500 miles or so before its due for an oil change, but with the bein said Im curious if theres any normal maintance things i should have done to it right now or by the time i need another oil change, in order to keep her runnin good for a long time. I just saw in another thread sumthing about a tranny flush... Not sure if i should go ahead and get that and what exactly it will help, but also beyond that, any other things you guys may know about definitly let me know because i want to take good care of this car and have it run nice for a long time.

Since you just bought it and don't know the history on maintenance I would recommend changing all the fluids in the car to make sure everything is good. At least do a coolant flush/change, tranny flush/change, and a rear diff fluid change.

since you dont know the history of the car I would recommend doing a good check up, call it the 60k checkup and change the following
spark plugs
spark plug wires
full coolant drain and fill
full trans fluid drain and fill
rear end fluid inspection (drain fill its cheap...)
power steering fluid drain/fill (it absorbs water over time)
brake fluid drain/fill and check brake pads (absorbs water as well)
air filter check/change if needed
check alignment. If tires are wearing ok then just keep an eye on it
check air pressure in tires (it matters for gas mileage and tire life)
you dont have to do it all just try to work through it as you can~ some of it is not super important its just a bit of everything you might need to do /check

coolant, trans fluid, and other fluids are the most important things.

alright so after reading this, and gettin off the phone w/ the local ford dealership im definitly gettin the trany fluid and coolant flushed and refilled. Also, weird as it may sound today my automatic locks stopped working?....my keychain lock thing when i hit it does nothing it wont lock or unlock them...is that common and if so whats the likley cause? yesterday i locked myself out of my car while scraping the windows ...i had no idea why it locked me out i figured there was a possibility that i hit the lock with my bookbag as i was reachin in and turning the keys to start the car but im not sure, either way...i had a guy come out and pop the lock in the door.....so i dont know if this is common with mustangs or if when the guy poped my lock it did something to my keychain or whatever.....any input on this matter would also be greatly appreciated. and thanks spector for the good info previously.

I'd check the battery in the remote first. It's cheap.

It has a small battery in it, take a penny or something of the sort and open up the remote. Take the battery into a local store and buy a replacement and try it out. I did have one go completely out on me in my old car, but it was well used.

when they change your coolant use 50/50 premixed (why? cuz its mixed with distilled water! tap water is BAD they should drain the sucker then use a vacuum thing to suck coolant back in it (thats how they did mine and should be able to)
