Ok guys I found a GT rear axle for 400 everything included. Is it a direct replacment for the v6 rear. Also what are the gear ratio's for the 99-04 years. Thanks.

You'll have the same gear ratio if it's the stock gears. 3.27's.

$400 seem like a good price? I figured I might as well upgrade cause I am planning on turbo/super my car.

That is a great choice the 8.8 is a stronger axle and has quiet a few more options for gear ratios and lockers than the 7.5...Also that is a great price!

if you swap a 99+ into a pre 99 it will have a longer wheel base out back but other than that no major issues (didnt know what year you had)

It is a larger diameter housing which is stronger. On top of that the 8.8 (GT) rear end comes with a limited slip differential making traction much better by using both rear wheels to apply the power to the ground.

the only advantage of a GT vs v6 rear end is the pumpkin is bigger, and thus the gears/pinion are stronger as well as the housing. Also it comes with a tlok unit that is bigger and stronger than the tlok unit you can get in the v6 (not mustang but ranger for example uses the same rear as the v6 with a tlok unit for traction)

Do you need a different driveshaft to do this? Or with the stocker work?
