I chose MAC Cold air kit as my first mod like 3 years ago. Still looks great got a few hp out of her and was an easy instal with just some basic tools and time was only about an hr or so. Turbo kit is extremely expensive and considering this is your first post I'm not sure if your serious about bolting a kit on. Lots of time and kits aren't made for the 3.8L that often. A few companies make very good products for the 3.8L, however be prepared to spend some serious chedder...Probably a day for install on a turbo kit if all the hardware is allready made and you have a great knowledge of putting it together, plus your gonna have to get it tuned to the max. My advice start with the CAI and go from there.

Ya know what gets me mad, i buy a V6 thinking that i could build it up to be as fast or fast than a GT for less money than what a GT would cost but in actuality it would be cheaper just to buy a GT.

turbo = not easy to install, its a lot of work but the end results are so worth it.
k&n for cai, steeda even makes a good one

eh, i'm not really sure about this. depends on the car you buy, what year, etc. it would be pretty close i would imagine though in some situations... others, yes it probably would be cheaper to buy a GT.
there are 2 trade offs though.. you have a sweet v6 or a stock GT... the v6 might be more unique and more respectable in the modding community. however, the stock GT would have more potential in the future, more reliable than a ridiculously modded v6, etc.

you cant do an intake and a turbo together as when the turbo goes on the intake gets replaced.

okay. well I installed a spectre cold air intake from autozone about 3 months ago on my mustang. It is not really a good intake because it is a universal kit and not made for my specific car, but it does work. I also had a Imco performance exhaust installed on it from Midas when I bought it 3 months ago as well. Other than that I just had a K&N perfomance Gold oil filter put on with that Q power full synthetic. It seems to have a bit more juice. Rpm's were raised to 5000 before the car shifts compared to the usual 4000. My mustang is a 2004 40th year annivesary 3.8L V6 automatic. I want to eventually install a dual exhaust and get a k&n intake or bbk. I was thinking along the lines of a diablosport tuner as well. the turbo I was thinking about is a turbonetix turbo. it comes with new fuel injectors, fuel rail, boost gauge, etc, etc. I am a newbie on upgrading cars but learning. I want to know the next step from you guys on upgrades.. thanks

Ok the first thing you want to do is slow down a little...You are hopping from simple bolt-ons to a serious power adder! I am not sayig this to be mean, but follow me for a little and you will see what I mean!
The first question you want to ask your self is: What do I eventually want to end up with when I get through with my car? a track car only, bad ass daily driver, week end high power car? what are you HP/TQ goals? <and the most important question> Am I Dedicated enough to this one car to pursue what is will take to accomplish this goal <ie time, money, and love for the car>....
With all those being answered prepare your car for the final outcome of what you want. The first step should be to make sure car can handle any future power you will be putting down and getting the most of it to the ground as possible!! So for example I will use my car and the plan I had for it!
Suspension, Rear end, and transmission upgrades:
1. 8.8 rear end with 3.73 gear <4.10's for an auto> with a trac lok.
2. Upper and lower control arms
3. Spring upgrades <eibach, Sprint, ect ect>
4. Shocks/Struts ( I like KYB or Lakewood)
5. Subframe connectors (these will keep body twist to a minimum)
6. Trany, I would go with a C4 in your case w/t Tq conv @ 2500-3000 Stall
Now that you have a pretty solid base to plant your power look at the engine. As you said you wish to go turbo I will base the engine off of that power adder...I would aviod your bolt on all together and go strait into the engine and save the $ for more internal parts:
1. 4.2L Crank (will give you more displacement)
2. 5.956 Forged H Beam Rods (Scat, Eagle, ect ...your choice)
3. Forged .30 pistons 8.5:1 Pistons (lower compression allows you run more boost...Ross, Wiesco, your choice)
4. Port and Polished Heads (SSMS, Delk, RPM-Mustangs)
5. Cam (number determined by the manufacturer, but I would have the cam matched to your head choice and power adder)
6. Roller Rockers (stud mount)
7. Port polished upper/ lower intakes with IMRCs removed
Then a blow through MAF, Diablo MAF Extender, turbo kit of your choice, and a solid tune....You are looking at one hell of a set up!
You must prep the engine and tranny for the turbo or in the long run you end with nice turboed stang with a blown engine!
Plan ahead and take your time and you will end up stang to be proud of!

Thanks guys, as you probably know I am no expert in any means, but I do try and remember what alot of the big dogs over on the other board told me! It has been invaluable and made my progress so much quicker! I love to pass on what I have learned so some people can have ...ummmmm...easier and cheaper than I did! I just hope one day to know as much about sixes as tom, matt, and mike have forgotten!!!

Also realize that there are SO many hidden things you have to buy when doing major upgrades... so be prepared for the nickel and dime shit that will drain you.

Man you are not kidding..a hose here, bolt there, seals every where....WTF?, but to make sure it done right and aviod catastrophic failure later it is worth it!
