In 2001, the orignial Mustang Bullitt was reported to have sold of its models within the first two months, although they shorted the shipment by about 1000 cars.
It has been about one month since the new 2008 Mustang Bullitt came out and I am wondering if anyone knows exactly how many have been sold. I heard one rumor that it was 2300 units, but I would like someone to confirm it.
I know this car is basically am enhanced version of a GT, but I haven't own a Mustang in years, and I am aching to get one, if I had the money. They will either go fast or go slow, in aour current economy.
My first car was 1968 Fastback, with the original benchseats. Sorry I sold it. I'd be proud to have its younger brother, or son.

With the GT500 being marked up 20k+ the Bullitt is next on the block to make the dealers who were spoiled that a mustang WOULD sell with that kind of a mark up some exrtra money. The sad part is that the Bullitt REALLY isnt worth the mark up at all. The GT500 isnt so the Bullit really isnt. The same goes for the Shelby GT....
Once the markups come down to reality land I think the Bullitt will sell.

There 15 of them listed on ebay and not one of them are going for more than a thousand over sticker. I can confirm through ebay only that about 9 of them have been sold. I just want to know does anyone know how many have been solld of the 7000 that was earmarked for the US. Thanks.

With the mark up on em I think they will have slow sales and with the economy messed up right now.

According to the Bullitt registry there are quite a few sold.. Several have also been exported south... FWIW, Ebay is not the ultimate source of sales data..

What Bullitt registry?
I'd like to know how many are sold or a close approximation. I had an unoffical number of 2300 a few days ago. Does that sound right to anyone?

Out of curiosity, what is the importance of how many are sold to date?

Just want a little leverage when I go to buy one. When they reported to have made 6500 units for the 2001 Mustang Bullitt they in fact only made 5581, due to lighter demand for the car. With the billions lost last year, production down 9% for the Ford Company this year and many websites reporting how they wouldn't buy the Mustang Bulllitt b/c it is an overhyped/overpriced GT I might be able to run away with the car at below sticker, if I do it right. Plus, I am simply curious to see how it is tracking. In 2001 within two months all of them were sold. Now, if the 2300 number holds, they are under their numbers by comparison. More leverage but I want to have the number. As it is I will have to due some upgrades to the car to make it a REALLY good bullitt.

Hmm.....maybe towards the end of the year you will be able to use some leverage...hell, they still have markups on the over hyped GT500s and some places still have 07 models for over sticker.
The bullit is going to see the markups for a while too....the idiots came out of the wall for the GT500, so dealerships are going to play hard to get.
Good luck with your fight though...

The GT500 is a limited edition car at 1,000 models. So in that respect I don;'t think a dealer had any reason to try and negotiate with a customer. Too rare of a car. Granted 7000 for a Mustang is rare enough, but not one that doesn;t have enough components on it that makes it stand aside and stand taller than a GT. You know what I mean? If the brakes were Brembo, if the tires were Nitto or Riken Raptor, and the dash wasn't that mettalic grey, then I would probably see no reason to try and go through all this. I want to make a few upgrades to those items, plus find a way to add to the longevity of the engine. An American muscle car can have the same life of a Honda if it is fitted correctly.

Um...they made around 7 or so thousand GT500s in 2007 with dealers claiming it was a one year build....or at least it was planned to make around 7500. I'll check tomorrow when maybe this site will respond quick enough for me to reply in less than 5 minutes.
Either way, I posted in another thread where there is a sticker with a 20k markup on the bullit....the stealerships are going to be all over the markups for a while.

Yeah i saw that one. I was actually referring to the new 2008 Shelby Mustang that is limited to 1000 units. Think that's the GT500KR or something.
On Ford's website they list the Bullitt finally had a grand off the sticker buy that might not include delivery charges.

No, that's ford's website...that isn't at a stealership. Ford sets the prices, stealerships make market adjustment outside of ford's control. Once the car is in the stealership's hands, it is up to them as to what to sell it for. Hopefully you have decent ones around you that aren't in it just to rape their customers so you can score the car you want at a reasonable price.

Yeah I got quite a few of them in the area. So I can play off each other if I need to. Hey, is there a way I can request a specific number in the series? I know all of them are numbered. I want number 22 for sentimental reasons. Long shot but worth a try. Whats making me laugh is on ebay they aren't selling at all now. No one can sell the car for over a grand. The reserves arent being met.

You can try, but one that early in the run is probably already gone...

Looks like 5600 for the 08 Bullitt vs 5581 for the 01 Bullitt. Call it a draw.
