I have a 96 GT, at cruising speeds and normal driving the car is fine, but under hard throttle the valves sound like they are rattling. Can these be ajusted or is this normal? The car has 105k miles on it and I use 87 gas. I didnt notice it until I put the cats back on the car, but it may have just been drowned out by the exhaust before.
im curious as well. my car does the same thing (for a year or two now) during acceleration.
i think my situation might be a bit different, but i recall a similar problem happening to another car of my family's. it turns out that it was loose heat shields on the exhaust. perhaps something is rattling on our exhaust last time you messed with it?
Well I just went threw my exhaust, everything is tight. It sounds like it is coming from the engine area itself. The performance is fine but it kinda sounds like crap when you get on it good. I can hear it on the inside f my car s im sure you can hear it on the ouside as well. WHy did you say your situation may be different?
Is there any chance its pinging rather than valves rattling?
Try a higher octane fuel or run a can of chevron techron through the tank a few times

I guess there is a chance it could be pinging. I really dont know what it is. I got my oil changed and fulled up with gas and put an injector cleaning in it to see if that would help, but it didnt. I guess next time I fill up I will used premuim gas and see how that does.
