i have 10.5's out back and as far as i can tell theres no spacers. Im running 10.5" 03 5spokers PC'd black. unless the spacer the previous owner used is black too, otherwise i dont see anything that looks like a spacer.

I'm running a small spacer to be on the safe side with 18x10's in the back.

every cobra is different. You not only have that going for you but the type of tire you run will be wider/more narrow depending on how they decide to measure their tire. Most seem to be able to run 315's without issue if they are lowered and have replaced the back IRS bolt with a button head bolt. You will have to give them a test fit. Each side can also vary... so one side may clear and the other may not... so you will need to check each side.

+1!! And the very reason I'm wanting to go 18's. No worries when stepping up to 18's. It gets the tire away from the bolts all together.

Mine were a little close for comfort when I put them on so I'm running a spacer in the rear now...couldn't fit a finger between the wheel and the bolt without the spacer.

^^ I would install the smaller head bolts just to be safe as they are really cheap. Thats a bit of extra insurance.

Hmmm, weird. I've talked to a bunch of folks that said they didn't have a problem once they went 18's. Even with the suspension unloaded they said that it wasn't even close.
Strange.

315s are gonna be waaaay too wide for the stock 17x9 wheels. Even though Nittos run more narrow than other tires, they don't run quite that narrow. I had 285 Nitto 555s on a 18x9 wheel and they were just a little too wide. I can only imagine what 315s will be like.

the bolt we are talking about it located on the back side of the tire. If you look you will see a bolt head sticking out and not to far from the tire. Its where the back of the IRS bolts up.
this isnt the best pic but it shows the bolt behind the shock

Actually, the drag radial nittos only stick out about 1/2" from a 9" rim. They aren't a true 315. This is not true of the regular street radials...for some reason those hold true to size where as the 315 drag radials don't. They are more like a 295 and it is very apparent when you lay one on its side next to a stock 275 and another brand 315. It is just barely bigger than the stocker, and about a inch smaller than the other brand 315.
And, the 315 nittos will not need the spacer. I have them on my car with 10.5" rims and there is about 1/4-1/2" of space between the tire and the stock wide head bolt and no spacer. Once you get into the other brands, then the 315's actually become 315's and they will not fit very well with the stock bolt.

I have heard that the irs brace causes more damage then good. heard it was eaisier to replace the out put shafts with upgraded ones when they break, and the diff brace tends to blow every thing out the back.
