Kyle's was from a roll...he's a v6...he roasted him. /thread
He doesn't respect the car for the same reason most on here, not including yourself, don't respect and of those 4 bangers you are refering to.
I respect the car for what it is...a peppy grocery getter. However, it is nothing more than that and when the owners try to play all big like it is something it is no where being....the respect goes out the window.

Nah, my thought process is on, that's just how I am. It isn't because i'm a v8 and they are not. It's just because I don't like them. Fast? Sure, and I'm still learning about cars in general, but I just never liked them... I didn't mean to offend you.

I actually owned an 06 Cobalt SS before buying my stang, and with all the engine and suspension mods i did to it, i could go to the track and beat street stangs all day long. Not to say it could have been done on the street necessarily b/c of drag radials, but my PB time in the cobalt was 13.05 at 106mph (@17psi). Even though they are 4cyl, b/c of the supercharger they have a lot of top end rpm power. So they are a little slow off the line, but once 2nd gear is yanked, they come to life and scream.

For us who have children thank you for not racing on the highway. Bad road conditions or not it is never a good idea. That being said... a Cobalt SS,from the showroom floor, has no business wasting the gas of any Mustang GT anyways. The Mustang has it out muscled and out classed.

engine: cai, headerback exhaust, pulley swap, injectors, clutch, custom tune, 2-pass intercooler
susp: traction bars, springs/struts, poly mounts and dr's
**and if you were wondering, yes I got rid of it because 1) i missed my old stang, 2) the only way I could have made it faster was N2O or rebuilding all internals (too much $$$ for a 4-banger) but i was still pleased with the feat of taking a 4cyl from 14.91 to 13.05

14.91 to 13.05 wish those mods is damn good....
and street racing can be done legally. .... race to speed limit...
When I drive through town in the evening there are a ton of those ricer cars that want to race. they take off like and look like an idiot.... not saying I NEVER will.

17psi would be what 275rwhp/tq? thats about what 5 over stock... I dont see 17psi being enough to go from stock 14.4 to 13.0s

Somewhere in that ballpark, but with those cars it was all about keeping the front wheels planted - being fwd they had an extreme amount of hop (especially considering you had to launch at 3000 to keep the boost level through the whole 1/4, if you could control it, it was golden. That's where the traction bars and tranny mounts came into play.

That's what I figured. Cobalts are cool cars for what they are. That's fast for a 4-banger. I don't know, it wasn't that big of a deal until I read on the cobalt.net forums that "I'm from Jonesboro and I smoked some guy in a Mustang Gt..." that's not the exact wording but next time i'm there I want to find the guy and shut his mouth... though I won't run him on the street over the speed limit. He's just tempting me to go back ... I'll try to find the forum where he said it and post back... not that it's a big deal ... i don't know, i'm just offended...

actually just for your info a cobalt will beat any older stock mustang (94 body style) will beat 6 cyl mustangs (99) and mabey a stock auto v8, the new mustangs (07 body style) smoke the cobalt including the v6, yes i own a 06 cobalt ss s/c. It is also not a family car (2 door) but it does make a good everyday driver as long as you don't have a family that must fit in the backseat. with gm stage kits you can only get the cobalt up to 241hp 216tq while in warrenty. it is also a fairly heavy car (3800lbs) and its first gear is like a semi truck first gear its really really really short, but secnd gets er to 60mph.
BTW: not sure about your stangs but it also depends on what kind of race your talking about , what i typed was about 1/4 mile which for your info isnt what a FWD car is ment for, i can take onramps at 90mph+ and top out at 168mph, this is a great example of what race your racing..its a quote taken from another website on the time attck stage 2+ coablt .
The Cobalt SS Supercharged Coupe Time Attack Unlimited will race Nov. 8 at Buttonwillow Raceway Park in central California, the same track where it bested an 801-horsepower AWD, twin-turbo Nissan Skyline and a nitrous charged Volkswagen Jetta.
the FWD Cobalt SS Supercharged beat the fastest times of the legendary AWD Nissan Skyline by seven seconds in Street Tuner Challenge's Time Attack event on July 21.

A cobalt tops out at 168 with 171 hp in the larger 2.4L and 2681 curb weight for a coupe? I don't see how that is physically possible because a CTS-V has difficulty doing that with 400 hp and a curb weight aof 3861. My '05 Mustang GT sure can not hit 168 with my mods which are about 325+ bhp and a personal weight of 3457. I really don't believe that speed is attainable. Also, cornering speed is very subjective to the curvature of the ramp.

You need to get your head out of the clouds man....it's obvious there are stickers in play here...to improve both aerodynamics and power.
