It is about time to replace my brake pads so I ordered some nice Hawk Performance brake pads and I was able to replace the front ones fine but I can not fit the rear calipers back on either side for the life of me. Am I retarded or is there some little trick that I am missing? My car is on the lift until I can get it back together so any advice soon would be really helpful. Thanks.

I am not sure if it is the same as 94-04 but there is a tool needed on those that you need to allow you to compress the rear caliper's piston to slide it back on. Sounds like you need that. You may can rent it at autozone or something. I think the fitting is square or something~

I was wondering the same brandon, I'm not sure if the new calipers are the same. What you have to do (I've done it with a screwdriver before) is push in and turn the piston at the same time to get it to set back into the caliper. Once you do this you can reinstall the new brake pads and be done.

Apparently, you do need a specialty tool to depress the piston in the rear calipers. I wish my damn Haynes manual had mentioned that. Sorry to waste your time

Be Careful!!! If you try to compress the caliper with out turning the piston YOU WILL BRAKE THE CALIPER!!! Then you will have to replace it.

We'll let it slide this time. How dare you not use common sense and think the rear pistons would need to be turned in instead of pushed in like most other cars out there.
I hate turning mine in...it never seems to want to go in easily as the tool keeps slipping off every time you shift pressure a little bit.

Ok, so I have a new upcoming issue. I've recently ordered new charge motion plates as well as underdrive pulleys. I know that the harmonic balancer requires a special puller so any suggestions as to what brand/kind of tool to buy or should i just have this work done?

ATI, Fluidampr, COMP Cams, and Moroso all make easy to use harmonic balancer puller and installer tools. Just depends on your brand preference and how much you want to spend. They range from $25 to over $100.

No brand prefence. Just want it to work. Price is, well, like anyone else, free is best but I'll pay what I need to so it gets done right. Thanks for the help
