I'm considering buying a 1992 LX that was a I-4 to V-8 swap. The guy selling it is a mechanic and did the swap himself. He said he wrecked his 1992 LX 5.0 and bought a 1992 4 banger and did the swap. He needs money(baby on the way) and will take 2,000 bucks for the car. The body is in great shape and the car drives great also. Anything I should look for or be worried about? Any input would be much appreciated! -Dave
I would make sure all the wiring is in good shape/routed in a safe spot, ask about the fuel system, the V8 uses much more than the 4. Basically just look the car over completely like you would with any other car you're going to buy, look underneath and all. Sounds like a good deal and i hope all goes well.
usually the swap cars aren't a bad deal, at least you know the car's only had a few years of bashing.. do a KOEO and a KOER test to see if there are any electrical gremlins.
