gauge help

So how do you remove the plastic around the gauges, i cant figure it out, the pull knob for the headlights gets in the way, can ya take the knob off somehow? and my gauges are off, when i am at a stop i says im doing 10mph, and my tach never drops even when i turn the car off it stays bout 750-1000rmp higher than it should, how can i fix these lil problems?

To pull that surround off you need to take out the 2 screws that mount it right over the steering wheel, then look at the headlight knob, turn it all the way over and there will be a little metal clip that you need to loosen and pull the knob off. Takes a few tries to figure it out but it does come off. From there the piece just pulls right out...with a few pulls and tugs.

And as far as your problem, does the car have aftermarket gauges in it?

I used a nail bent at 90 degree to remove the knob Just press down on the metal clip and pull I turned the headlight knob completely counter-clockwise and while look through the windshield (so you can see what you're doing.) inserted the nail and it pulled right off

no stock gauges, they started acting up when i was driving the car home after i bought it, very convient time to act up

I'd pull that surround off, take out the 4 screws around the gauge assembly and you can break it down from there. Take a close look at it and see if anything is messed up physically with them.

ive never taken my GT's gauges apart but i had the same issue with my 97 Eclipse and one of the bulbs on the board were loose in the socket. might want to check the fuse too. last but not least, could also be your headlight/dimmer switch box thingy (its all one unit iirc). im too tired to think of actual part callouts right now.
