Considering a job in Tallahasse Fl and I know nothing of the area. Anyone live there now or in recent past that can offer opinions of the area?
Been reading online last couple nights. Sounds like traffic is nuts but overall not a bad place to live.
Any help is appreciated!

I dunno that we have any members down there right now. Have a few past members from that area, doesn't seem like a bad place. Just busier than where you are right now lol.
You gotta setup a weekend to come back down to Tupelo before you leave, I'll even drag out the car and carry it up there.

Yeah, tends to be a little quiet sometimes.
Def need to get back to Tupelo. Have a friend with some nice camera glass I would like to take for a test run. Will see how this goes and give you a shout.

Gainesville would be the better choice as you'd at least still be in SEC country

Funny you mention that-my FIRST thought was actually "Tallahasse...augh, FSU!"
FAST64...looked into that. Cost of living index here is rated at 84, Tallahassee is 100. National average is 100.

Here's a few facts Tallahassee is the twelfth fastest growing metropolitan area in Florida. Tallahassee’s 12.4 percent growth rate is higher than both Miami and Tampa.
Summers in Tallahassee are hotter than in the Florida peninsula, and it is one of the few cities in the state to occasionally record temperatures above 100 degrees
Leon County is the highest educated county in Florida with 49.9% of the population with either a Bachelor's, Master's, professional or doctorate degree. The Florida average is 22.4% and the national average is 24.4%. Here's a cost of living/wages adjustment tool
City of Tallahassee Cost of Living Calculator. Florida--Tallahassee Relocation Calculator & Index.

In big citys its all about where you live that determines traffic issues. Take for instance Birmingham. If you can stay off of interstate 65 in the mornings or hwy 280 generally you dont have a problem.

Maybe go down for a weekend and see what you think. If it was me, I would first see how I liked the city before I decided to move there. Then compare your income to the new job's income and see how the pros and cons weigh out career wise. I'm sure it is a bigger and busier city than where you're from right now but like Spec said, it all depends on where you live and how far you have to commute to your job that makes the difference. The unknown can be a little scary at times, but sometimes the change is definitely worth it! Good luck!!!
Definitely check out the link Herb posted for you!

Thanks for the replies!
We were already looking at spending 3-4 days there before making a decision. $$$wise it is a substantial increase in salary. Some of the other details are being discussed still.
