Does anybody know where the oil pressure sending unit is for the stock oil gauge? After I drive for a little my gauge drops below the L but i know it still has pressure, I would have starved the engine of oil and blew it already if not.

On the 92, it was drivers side of motor, front (below/behind your power steering pump)- on the block below the head

I don't see it being moved in a later year?

starting in 96 the oil pressure gauge basically went to a switch that put the needle in the middle when the car has over 6psi of pressure (aka worthless) if your needle doesnt move when you are putting pressure on the engine (higher rpms) vs lower rpms its not doing much of anything.

He still has a 5.0, so I'm pretty sure its the actual pressure gauge..

It could be like my ranger is/was....I thought the stock gauge was lying to me so I hooked up an aftermarket gauge with new fittings. 40lbs at cold idle, 9lbs at warm idle, 7-8 lbs cruising down the highway in 5th.

Gotta keep that sucker revved up to keep from starving...

actually I believe the 5.0's had alot of these on/off pressure gauges as well. I can't remeber what year they started doing it though.

with his reading the way it does, its not acting like an on/off switch, its not hard to replace the sending unit either way..

Mine's around 45-50 hot idle, 55-60 hot cruise/WOT but high volume pump...
