Hey guys, I have 28k miles on my car.... Should the check engine light be on? Because it came on this morning... Also, I hear this squeaking noise when I accelerate. Any ideas?

Your check engine light shouldn't be on ever unless the computer has a reason to turn it on, so scan for codes and see what it comes up with......im not sure about the squeaking noise, maybe someone else can chime in with an idea.

Never heard of that before? Just stop in to your local Advance Auto Parts or Autozone and have them check the code for you. As for the squeaking, if it happens when you accelerate the only thing I can think of is the drive belt, either its wet or has something on it, did you clean your engine bay recently? I would say that it is worn but I don't think the drive belt should be worn at 30k.

yeah, it could be wet, it just snowed about 4 inches, and then melted on all once ... that would make sense. You're right, it shouldn't be worn at 30k miles. I'll have them check the code. Thanks.

I had a squeaking noise when I accelerated and it sounded like it was coming from my front passenger wheel. Sure enough, it stopped when I changed out the brake pads. Why the hell it would only squeak while accelerating i have no idea but that's what it was for me.

yeah! it sounds JUST like that. on the passenger side. it's annoying! hard to enjoy the sound of your car when a friggin' squeaking noise goes on.

hey guys, i accidentally posted a new thread. Anyway, I ran a code on my car and it said that i have the very small evaporation emissions leak. I got to digging around, I don't hear anything wrong with the vacuum hoses but when I stand behind my car ... I can see the exhaust, the side that's okay is white and flows fine with the proper evaporation. The other side has a very slight greenish tint to it and it smells a bit more rich than the left. There is next to no evaporation coming out. Here's my thought ... I have stock headers which means I should have a valve where my exhaust meets my headers. I'm thinking that the spring may have rusted or broken thus leaving the valve going crazy. I'm hoping that's what is wrong. I'll get under it either tonight or tomorrow and take a look-see. If you guys have any other ideas, i'm open to hear them. I also though maybe the computer was going crazy and needed to be restarted.

well, i restarted my computer. Check engine light is gone, but i have this loud noise (like a clicking noise or rattling maybe?) sounds like it's coming from directly under the stick shifter. Someone said it could be the U-JOINT but others say no way. I have no clue what to think this point? now the U-JOINT for the 05 Mustang GT is build into the drive shaft. I don't know... :[

Okay first off I just surpassed my 50k I've got about 50,500 miles on my 2004 Convertible Mustang.
Today I went over a road bump and it made a loud grinding sound...may not have anything to do w/ this problem but thought I should add it.
Today after forementioned incident I got in my car and the engine light came on.I had noticed that the coolant level seemed low(it has a cold and hot marker..it was up to the cold marker only). My car seemed to run ok and no odd noises or funny smells.I also checked the belts and they were ok.
Now I haven't had any work done on the car except oil changes and tire rotations...
What may be my problem?
THANKS!!!!
