im partial to pioneer.... alpines nice too, but ive never had a problem with my pioneer's. One i had since 94 (it was time to upgrade) so i got another pioneer, that one got stolen last year, so now i have another pioneer... all of them have been great. I like the sub control and built in equilizer / crossover that pioneer has. Its really nice.

id say thats about right... you have to get a higher end alpine for it to be really good though, however, even the mid grade pioneers are still awesome

Ok, go with whatever you want, don't listen to them. I've installed just about every brand and have never had problems with any of them. I'll be honest with you, it all depends on what you are wanting it to be able to do. If you're wanting a good equalizer set up, pioneer is the most user friendly, alpine has the best set up with it, just takes a little getting used to. Sony has some good stuff out there, have installed several of their cd players. My only problem with sony is the fact that some of their products have downgraded to cheeper versions, then again, who hasn't. Pioneer can downgrade with the best of them. I say, anything over a 6400 pioneer would be good, anything from sony that isn't sold at wal mart and any alpine period would get the job done. I'm a pioneer person myself and if I had to choose would go with the pioneer premier 740mp. Just my opinion on the subject and you asked for it, so there ya go.

It all depends on how much you want to spend. If you're looking for around 300 dollars I'd say look at the pioneer premier 740 up. They're all really good

Don't knock it till you've tried it! The latest Sony line is not only very reliable, but very stylish. Check out pics of my set up by clicking my sig. I recommend either Sony, Alpine, or Panasonic headunits, they're personally my favs.

I have had any Sony in my car but not recently. I can tell you that my friends had sony in theirs.
They had the new p5 Subs(blew in a couple of weeks)
I personally have had a Sony cd player nad I hated it it was one of the nicer end ones. My friend had a sony mp3 cd deck and it skipped constantly and took forever for the rotary knob to turn up the volume.
My sony cd player skipped all the time.
Its sad when you have to come out with a cd player like the G-Skip or whatever its called that uses esp so that it will not skip.
My Alpine has never skipped once.
I love Media Expander
I love the 3 pre outs and sub control. I love the 4v Sub pre out.
I ABSOLUTLEY LOVE THE HIGH PASS CROSSOVER BUILT INTO IT
Now tell me a sony cd player that can do all of that for 268.98
More power to you tho if you like your set up and dont have problems with it. I just cant let go of all the options that Alpine gives you.
And I would be willing to bet you that my one ten Kicker CompVR would hit higher dbs than both of your sonys
