I can pull 330 out of the GT pretty easy, with mainly interstate driving. I usually get around 275 or so on the average tank.
on the return trip from getting the car, my GT took $0.50 more per FILL than my brother's v-6... the whole trip home every fill. (all done in the wee parts of the last quarter)

i go WOT 2nd and a bit of 3rd everytime i get on the freeway (unless theres someone in front of me merging at 35mph!), so thats twice a day right there, not to mention my driving mood depends on how work was, how work is going to be (morning driving to work), and what music i have on. Right now work is dandy (i stopped caring) and i have Seal (yes, i said it, Seal) in the deck and hanging out in the slow lane and generally only going WOT in 2nd and going straight into 5th or 6th right when i hit 65-70, and im at 100 miles at the half tank mark. however it seems post half-tank that needle goes skydiving, so while im going "yay 100 miles at half a tank" itll start to drop twice as fast and ill get maybe another 50-75 miles out of it if that.
you know, i dont think any of the domestic makers make anything thats not in their performance vehicle lineup that i would even consider buying. Everything Ford has sucks ass, GM is eh save for few (that i still wouldnt spend money on) and the Dodge camp is usually overpriced (only cause anything i want has a SRT badge on it and it starts out at 55k MSRP!)
a baseball bat might work. You can also use it to take out the Mach3 Grille and Prelude headlights.

Fair enough. My commute offers me little opportunity for bad behaviour.

Not a fan of the fusion. My girlfriend is looking at Toyota Camry but I am trying to push her towards the Mazda 6. It is still under the umbrella of Ford Motor Company, it looks nice, and is a pretty decent all around car. Mercury also doesn't make a bad car. They get a bit of a bad wrap because they are midline between Ford and Lincoln but I find that to be great because you get more luxury than Ford without the Lincoln pricetag. My father has a Lincoln Towncar, my older brother has a Mercury Grand Marquis, I have the Mustang GT, my younger brother has a Mercury Milan and my mother has a ''94 Camry. The Camry is the only car in bad condition but that is totally attributed to the driver. Any modern car will last if you take car of it. I don't know,I was just raised and brainwashed that nothing beats American

Mazda6 is a very nice car and if I was in the market for a midsize 4door that is where I'd go.

My gas mileage is generally decent, around 19mph city/highway but if its all city it sucks.

Well I'm about to start on a good trip, I'll keep tabs on mileage and gas markings at every stop and when and how much I fill up along with the mileage at that point. 25 mpg will be hit this weekend.
BTW, my form of getting my mileage is the car is currently topped off, went till 1 click on the gas. I will drive until I need gas and fill up until 1 click again. Take the mileage, divide that by the gallons I filled up with and get a rough mileage number.
I know I could do it more accurately but I'm lazy.
BTW, for those that don't know, a full size chevy truck with the 4.3 gets 17-18 mpg in the city or highway, doesn't matter if you lay on it all day long or just cruise. Kinda amazed me...

My v6 is the same way. foot to the floor or driving light as a feather, always gets 22-24mpg.

the only way you can support our country in the automobile industry is to invest in the company's stocks. their products aren't even made in america anymore... the amount of "american" cars made in america rival that of imports. hell, hondas near me are made in ohio a few hours away. to add even more irony to the scenario, the countries we are outsourcing to are outsourcing. going off on a tangent away from cars, a lot of stuff that we are outsourcing to india is now outsourcing to smaller southeastern asian countries. america is becoming nothing more than an intellectual management body. we have the markets, we have the consumers and we have the people to manage it all. the only thing we lack is the actual production of anything.

the lack of us producing anything shows in the quality. a lot of things are poorly thrown together rather than built to last. for example. I have an american made shovel that is older than me. I bought a new one and it was from china. Broke the first time I used it....

oh, i know! its the big price we pay for low prices. pittsburgh did a news story around xmas time about supporting american toys because of that lead situation... apprently all we make are balsa wood planes and a few other wooden toys haha.

you know another quality issue of foriegn produced things I have noticed is electronics. Like cell phones. drop them from a foot and they laugh in your face and never work again. And cheap materials dont help this at all.
