Someone also reduced their monthly payments by $170 and got a four-door car that will be much safer and roomier (if that's even a word) for his soon-to-be-born child.
Plus now I get to drive a fox again. I was getting tired off the fat-ass, impossible-to-work-on S197. I really like dashes this morning.

My DD costs nothing on gas, who cares about gas mileage.

it makes sense though if you are going to have a kid, i mean, the stang is great, but i can't image having a kid and having it too.
but then again i'm not planning on ever getting married and having kids, so the stang gets to stay! heh

My 2000 GT Coupe worked out just fine with my daughter from the time she was 1 year till she was 3 (last time I saw her). I think too many people run away from the idea of kids and mustangs....it isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be.

Thank you Rob...been trying to explain that to certain ppl lol.
I still like the idea of something 4 doors though...guess we'll just add another vehicle to the stable.
That and it's getting more and more difficult to haul a husky around in a mustang.

me things a buick lucurne, or chevy malabu would have been better, but thats the chevy guy in me.
IMO the milage of the mustang is GREAT, compared to the yukon xl or vette. my xl has a 35 gallon tank and gets 14 mpg HIGHWAY. the vette gets 9 CITY and 24 highway (so the vette is a great highway car, but i only travel in my yukon, safer), the mustang is the best over all at my calcuations of about 18 mpg average all the way around. im happy.

You only get 9 mpg-city in an '07 'vette? That's terrible! I average about 20, in town, in my '00.

how? you have a GT! With sane driving i could pull 250 miles out of a full tank!
i can barely top 150mi per tank in the Cobra.
i usually ask people who complain about gas prices to buy one less Starbucks frappacino a week, as that 4$ you save is just about the difference you pay per refill everytime gas goes up ~$0.30/gallon. Gas went up here, i buy one less Monster Java a day than i used to to offset it. i now save $50/mo (think about it, 2$ a day x 20 days a month + Tax) which is pretty much a weeks worth of gas.

150 miles out of a tank? I did 330 out of tank this weekend...and that was being in boost a few times. Could probably pull 350-375 out of a tank if I felt like it.

I do 90% highway driving and can barely pull 200 out of a tank...without boost....might you care to share your secret or are you not sure of your actual starting mileage so the math gets a little fuzzy? 350 sounds like a pipe dream to me....
Even before my 60's, 225-250 was a great tank of driving....

gesh, I drive my mustang to save on gas money, the explorer got 19mpg going to Oklahoma. (its AWD, 4.0L v6, fully loaded with crap for the trip) But I wont get rid of my stang due to gas.. now i can say that cause my DD is a good car to drive with people and in snow and mud

I'll keep a documented record of it this weekend, should go through at least 1 full tank. I'll put it this way, I drove 260 highway miles this weekend plus some messing around time in town and it was all on the same tank....that's cruising at 75 on the highway.

Nope, had nothing else to put on there. I didn't really like the rims that much anyway, so no big loss. The offset wasn't right and they stuck out too much.
Now I just have to decide to go ahead and start driving the white '90 again... or to drive my wife's 97 Eclipse for a while and finish the black '89. I think I'm going to finish the '89...
BTW, my insurance dropped $35/MONTH also.

I get 290 miles out of a tank pretty easily and that is still with cruising at 75 on the highway. I don't see a problem with getting an alternative car as a daily driver; however, it would kill me if it were not American. And I have not had any problems working on my S197 from the entire suspension to bolt-on power adders to delete plates and cams. What is so difficult?

Thank God I traded mine instead of you trading yours then.
I never had a problem with gas mileage. I also got around 300 miles on a tank doing highway driving. For the difficult to work on thing, that was just me bitching about their ridiculous interior fuse box cover.
As far as the "Americanness" goes, if any of the domestic manufacturers made a car my wife liked, I would have bought one. But... they don't, so I didn't. If it were solely up to me, I would have gotten a Ford Fusion and then tried to come up with something to fix the hideous tail lights.
