I know a few weeks ago there was a small discussion on what kind of mileage you can get out of an 03 cobra. So, this past weekend I took the time to write down mileage and fillups to see just what I get out of the new car.

Starting mileage: 27397.9 (Jackson, MS)
0.6 miles on tank
Fill up #1: 27710.4 (Birmingham, AL)
313.4 miles on tank
14.07 gallons = 22.2 mpg
Fill up #2 27976.8 (Hamilton, AL)
266.4 miles on tank
13.64 gallons - 19.53 mpg
Fill up #3 28257.5 (Jackson, MS)
274.7 miles on tank
13.578 gallons = 20.23 mpg

With the average fuel price being around 3.37 for Premium unleaded here I spend around 140 dollars to travel 855 miles, leaving me with a total of about 16 cents a mile to drive this car. Add in the cost of oil changes (25 bucks every 5k miles) gives me .5 cents per mile for that, leaving me at about 16.5 cents a mile to operate this car.

Not too shabby if I say so myself...

is that all highway?

in my v6 mustang in PA with a bunch of hills (pittsburgh is really hilly) and almost 100% city driving i average around 20 mpg. on a PA highway trip (still with hills) i found out that i get about 23 mpg.

I average nearly 30 mpg, highway, in the 'vette. Around town, I usually get about 20. It's got 2.73 rear-end gears, though, which means it cruises real low in the RPMs on the interstate, and it has trouble getting out of it's own way from a stop.

my car, 94 v6, used to get 25mpg in town, on highway, uphill, or down hill. I got new gears so I am not sure anymore.

i have been doing nearly 100% freeway driving for my last tank, and only was able to pull 180mi before my light clicked on.

Is that running it down until the light comes on? I get about 20-22 mph highway, but I only get about 200-225 miles between fillups, but I don't run it down to fumes either. I fill up around 1/4 tank, or 1/8 at most.

Looking at the amount of each fillup, it appears you do run it about dry...and that is why your numbers appear inflated.

i get 30 on the freeway at 75 in 6th gear (almost idle)

but around town when i like to smoke cobras (no offense but i do love to) i get about 9-12 mpg. a programmer helped though. i keep it in economy when traveling.

mustang is my day to day driver since its actully good on gas. i see a mix of 17-20. the yukon with its big ass 360hp 6.0 get about 12 city- 14 highway (yes highway)

so i love the mustang as its makes alot of power (with a programmer) but has great fuel economy. but i fill up at 1/4th as i have always heard its bad to run down far as it sucks all the crap in the fuel tank to the engine (or filter but still its not good)

anyways

i shift at or before 2k

i go WOT only on onramps, and only when theres nobody in front of me so i can jaunt up to 80 and merge the correct way. once i get clear of people i usually drop down to 70-75 and hang out in either the middle or slow lane (if no trucks are in it)

I rarely even do the speed limit, my friends hate driving with me because i drive rather slow. I baby my cars most the times and only use them to their fullest on certain situations. just look in brents "Easy Listening" thread, thats usually whats playing in my car most the time, rarely is it anything else.

totally ricer driving style. dont you have a GLADD convention to go to?

I'd be surprised if my car got 300 miles on a full tank.

And 3.37 for premium? It's 3.69 for regular unleaded here.

*permabans*

Hey man don't bash jersey because a small portion of the state has some oil refineries (Perth Amboy?) and one other small portion has all the rejects who can't afford to live in the Philadelphia slums (Camden, NJ)

No... The gay state is California, simply because you're living there. (Sorry haha I really could care less, but you had to go and bash jersey )

Sucks that I'll be out there all summer
