Help Needed In England - Idling Problem

Hi there in the US
I have a 2005 Mustang GT. It has been in storage the last couple of months. I have reconnected the battery and all seemed well for a day or two. Now the car keeps intermittently stalling as it comes to a halt. The idling speed keeps dipping below 500 rpm...
Any ideas?
Cheers, Glen

My guess would be that you have a dirty fuel filter. It is possible that sludge accumulated in your gas tank or fuel lines while the car sat for so long and then got sucked into the fuel filter when you started it up. This could explain why it runs fine when the gas (petrol for you english guys) is being pumped through (higher demand with foot on the throttle) but the restricted flow causes you hesitated acceleration and rough idle/ engine-cut out. You can change this out yourself if you are good with cars or you can have Jiffy Lube or your local Ford dealer change it for you

Ok, maybe not JiffyLube but the equivalent of it. You know what I meant, you "wanker". I threw that in just for the English fellow.

Is it a 5 speed and do you clutch it/put it in neutral coming to a stop? If so...try leaving it in gear, should solve your problem.
It's probably getting unsteady readings to the MAF with air bouncing around in your intake by shutting the throttle body quickly coming to a stop.

sounds like A fuel delivery problem is most likely causing the stalling. Check the fuel pressure regulator and the fuel pump. You might want to installed new spark plugs, cleaned maf sensor and clean iac valve w/ carb cleaner

Once again, Herb, thanks for the positive reinforcement. I friggin' said it would probably be in the fuel system but I was starting simple without throwing too much his way.
