HELP need to beat a cobra!!!

my bud has a 04 cobra, stock with flowmaster mufflers. i have a stock 07 gt 5spd. here are our runs.

what is the cheapest thing i can put on my car to beat him? iam thinking 150 shot of nos. i an tired of the cobra pickin on poor ol little me lol i know dropping a full second is alot so any ides are welcome for the best bang i can get for my buck!

short of the bottle or a supercharger (or great traction and all the bolt ons) i dont see you getting a full second off your time.. Your 60ft times need work though 2.3 is horrible, running a 2.0 will get you another half second off your times. He should be capable of running high 7s in the 8th as well though.

If you can drive and he sucks at driving, a 150 shot will get you what you are looking for...assuming you get traction off the line. Another member here has an 06 gt auto with a 150 shot and he is able to get down the track faster than me time wise, but I'm the first to admit I can't launch my car for shit. However, my trap speed is faster than his.

So, cheapest would be a decent size shot of spray. Other than that, you will need a super charger.

It's cheaper than any forced induction. It's not cheap due to the fact you have to rent dyno time and get a custom tune to make it work. And with nitrous running about 4-5 dollars a pound (give or take some change) it will cost you 'bout $50.00 to fill it up(10 lbs bottle). Giddyup is right...it may or may not do the trick. It may not even be worth it. One other thing that wasn't mentioned is the rear end ratio. But then you get into drivability issues. A combo of the two (say 3.73 gears and a 100 shot of nitrous) could do it. But beating a Cobra won't be cheap.

you need traction and gears, light nitrous to match that 1/8mi time. you need to work on the driver mod too, get those 60ft's better.

IMO 03/04 Cobras are geared shitty 1st and 2nd plus 3.55's out back. 1/8mi really is a crappy test of a Cobra's ability, you need to take advantage of that, exploit that weakness and make it your strength.

the best 60' i got was 2.229 they were 2.3097, 2.2332, 2.2392 thats the best i can get out of it at our track that night but i am going fri so hopfully the track will be better will keep ya posted.

oh and buy the way my gt has 3.31 not the 3.55 but the cruise set on 73 i get 29.8 mpg

3.31's??? No wonder your 60ft times are bad. In fact, you must be a half way decent driver to get them where they are. You have two choices...
1) turn the car in for a 6 cylinder, and get good gas milage.
2) use the car for what it is, and suffer with bad gas milage.

eveh with 3.31s you should be capable of 2.1 60ft times~ I mean 99-04 v6s with 3.27s and about the same first gear can do that~ so im sure you can.

Just takes practice, good tires, and a decent track.

thats stock though.

better and wider tires, gears, etc. can all help make that better.

well the main problem is my wife dont want me to do anything that efect the warrenty....but what she dont no wont hurt her right! ill probley start with the c&l racer CAI and a tunner probley diablosport predater, and the 150 shot of juice. if a stock 5.0 can drop from a 15.3 to a 13.6 with a 150 shot it should help me reach my goal. next will be some 3.73's or 4.11's, a catted x pipe and jba mufflers and maybe some headers.

whats a good tuner for the s197's, and what gears would you recomend.
my cousin is running 8.4's with his 05 with full headers o/r x pipe, slp loudmouth, tunner, and cai, and 4.11's with 20" wheels

I don't mean to sound like too much of a dick, but your 1/8 mile times sound pretty weak. I really think you need to polish up on your driving, especially if your wife is less than 2 tics behind you. I think with just the CAI, an aggressive 93 octane tune, and 4.10s, you should be capable of duplicating your buddy's times without having to do nitrous. His times do not seem very impressive either given the car, as he should easily be sub 8 seconds in the 1/8th. Long story short, get a few mods, and practice driving.
