So I finally took the car up to the shop to get the low mpg/odd start/air rushing noise checked out. Just did a quick once over until they get to throw it on the dyno to see if it lost power, which will be next week. But they said it may be a cracked intake and they have been having to replace alot of gt intakes in the past couple months. I don't know much about these things, but if i do have to get a new one, any ideas as far as the worth of putting in a performance intake over a stock one??

i would definatly stay away from another plastic pos intake. IMO if it was me id get the cheapest alternative and be done with it.

i wouldnt expect really anything out of it, the stocker already flows pretty well for the airflow requirements of a 2v 4.6L motor. maybe the exhaust tone might change a bit, like when you swap out the stock intake for a K&N or whatnot.
Now if you had say like a 5.0 modular stroker, worked over 2v heads+cams, longtubes+full exhaust i can see picking up a few ponies and it definitely making a difference.

If you are going to spend some cash on a new intake anyway, why not supercharge it? Comes with a new intake.

idk how much extra cash you have laying around, but putting out $400-$500 for a new intake is a little different than $3k.
But it doesnt matter now because the intake was fine. turns out that the gas station that i usually go to was giving out beyond shitty gas, and my engine wasnt happy with it. Thanks for the advice anyways guys.
