Question Need help to fix a mistake I made

I searched the 2005+ forum and couldnt find this anywhere. I goofed up when I ordered my GT. Im pretty upset right now for being so stupid. 3 weeks ago I ordered a GT and had it with the auto transmission. I wanted the auto because I'm 50 and I didn't want to mess with shifting gears. Then I realized I should have got the manual so 4 days after I placed the order I told the salesman I wanted to change it to the manual trans with the 3.55 gears. He made the change and printed out a new order confirmation for me. Well I just found out today that ford pulled the original (1st) order 2 days after I placed it and therefore no changes can be made. And they can't place another order because April 11 was the deadline. So if I still want it I will have to take it with an auto trans.

Heres my question: Does anyone know if theres a way I can call ford and possibly sweet talk them into giving me a manual? The ford salesman told me that the ford plant has the order scheduled for May 13th, which he thinks is the day ford builds it because the dealer recieves it 10 days after that. I hope some of you guys know how the Ford factory works. And can help me fix this.

if it doesnt work out, you should be able to just leave it at the dealer and not sign for it and pick it up. There were a couple 07 gt's at my local dealer back in 07 that had customers order them but changed their minds last minute and the dealer was stuck with them. not sure thats how they all are, but just tellin ya what ive seen.

I tried calling those numbers but when I finally got to talk to a person they couldn't help me. I need to talk to the factory, I wish I could go there and do whatever it takes to get this changed. But I think its out of my control now.

How hard would it be for me to change it to a manual after I get the car?

I would talk to the dealer and have him do a dealer transfer to get a car that would fit your needs. The salesman, if he is any good, should do that for you. A GT with automatic should not create any problems for the dealer to sell.

More trouble than it'd be worth.

even with donor cars a auto to manual swap is no easy task. i just helped a buddy do a auto to manual swap on a 97 Eclipse GSX with a donor car and its on my list of things i will never attempt again.

Thanks for the compliments.

I bought the Bullitt from a different dealer than I ordered the GT from. The GT should be coming in about 3 weeks, If you know anyone who wants it. its candy red, iup, comfort group, 18" wheels, light graphite, HID lights, Auto trans.

I still cant believe I ordered it with an AUTO!

Congrats on the Bullitt. What dealer did you get it from? As for the one on order, what can they do, take away your Birthday? A Mustang ordered in that color won't sit for long on any dealer's floor. Where did you order it from?
