Ok...so the cobra will be ported/pulley'd early this summer and I'm trying to decide what route to take.
On one hand I have a strictly performance ported eaton with a 2.76 upper already installed for 400 bucks I can pick up from a friend. The downside to this is I haven't seen any defininite numbers from this combo other than it should net around 500 at the wheels.
On the other hand I can go ahead and pay the bucks and get the Stage V from steggy and get proven results, then spend more money and get a upper/lower combo and more money for the bap/maf and other supporting mods.
If I can get the car a little over 500 at the wheels I'll be satisfied as far as that goes, I'm not looking to build a strip queen, the car is hopefully gonna be built more for a road course than the quarter miile.
So the question is...which would you do?

Odds are the strictly will be good enough, but I Would go for an upper/lower combo anyhow just for the fact of increased belt wrap. A 2.93 upper/4# lower at the max....or do like mine and go 3.10 upper/6# lower.
As for MAF and injectors, it is a crap shoot whether you will need them or not. You will probably need the MAF, the injectors are different from car to car. Some do, some don't.
BAP, you will most likely need it....unless you are able to stay 39# injectors....then you may get away with the stock pumps.

you know in the back of your head you will continually wonder if you would have more power with a steggi stage 5 so do it or dont do anything.

But if he is only shooting for 500 to the wheels, odds are, it will be fine. The cost difference vs a stage 5 kind of makes it not worth it for the extra 20ish or so HP you will gain.

agreed.
right now just 500 to the wheels sounds like enough. couple months down the line when you get used to that power, you want more. Getting a Stg5 ported blower, and getting the fuel support right off the bat (60lb injectors, BA2400, BAP) would give a bit of headroom so when the time comes and you want more power, you are a pulley swap/tune away from hitting low to mid 500's.
of course, you can always find a 2.2KB and slap that on, the hell with the ported blowers, imagine the headroom you have then...........

Low 500s, the stage 5 mid 500 claims are on race fuel with long tubes and the works...There won't be any difference between 500 rwhp and 520 rwhp besides a dyno sheet.
None the less, I think the strictly one is enough. Depending on its age, I'm willing to bet it is comparable to the stage 4 steig. For the couple hundred you would save over the steig, it would be worth it. If it isn't enough, then it won't matter what port you have because you won't get enough from the eaton in any port. Your only option will be a replacement blower.

The strictly port has been on a car for less than 1000 miles. He put it on, had the car dyno'd, wasn't happy with the results. Sent his stocker off for the Stage V and made 15 more hp but still in the 460 range. Did a compression and leak down test and found out #4 and #7 were way down in compression. He's now donig a rebuild with GT cams and such...

So, that just proves that you need to ask yourself, is 15-20 more HP worth the couple hundred extra you will need to spend? I think the similar results somewhat prove the ports are about the same...with the strictly being about equal to the stage 4 as the 5 makes about 20 more than 4.
So, with that little bit of info you just posted, I definitely stand by my statement of get the strictly and save the couple hundred bucks.

Let's see, the stage V from steggy runs what...800-900, then buy the upper pulley and hub (another 200-300) and for a little over a grand I'll be sitting at what I can get for 400. That makes sense.
I need to figure out what pulley and hub are currently on that blower so I can buy a differnent upper, a lower, and a idler (which I have absolutely no clue about)

I know I could go look it up, but I'm lazy.
What would a 4# lower and a 2.76 upper do as far as boost-wise? And the other question is would I be able to keep a belt on this?

Boost wise you are looking at around 17 psi....yes, you could keep a belt on this. You'll get a little slip up top with the 2.76, but with that kind of boost, you're losing power around the time it would slip anyhow.
You could always get the 4# lower, keep the upper, and run that and still be under the stage V price....well under...then if you decide later on you want better wrap, you can just swap out rings both upper and lower.
EDIT 17.1 PSI:

Ok, If I do the 2.76/4# lower, what size idler do I need?

Stock. YOu don't change out idler sizes. THe billeflow idlers will work just fine in the set of 4...or you can get just the extra one that sits next to the snout. THat is the 110mm or 100 mm...can't remember off the top of my head. You won't need the 92 mm...that will actually be too small and not give you the extra wrap you want.
I would suggest the full set of 4 idlers from BF though because the stockers can and do disintegrate in some cars at high boost.
You also won't have to worry about your alternator pulley...you can keep that stock as well. You won't need to change that out until you hit a 6# lower.

That's the idler I was referring to. And I see your point about the whole set. This is starting to get expensive now lol.
