So i've been looking around and heard of wonderful ford motor company's plan for 2010 and up. They are considering putting in the "new" eco boost twin turbo v6 in the mustang. At first they would sell this along with the usual models that are offered. They said they would introduce this motor to gain popularity, so they can replace the v8 with it. Sounds like another 1980s crisis. The EPA regulations are asking for over 30 mpgs by close to 2020. Those bastards are planning to kill the v8. Ford has already fucked up the last decade as far as competing with the other automakers, (exception mach1 and terminators). Don't get me wrong, i love mustangs and do own one, but i am not satisfied with the management decisions at Ford, and don't like the fact that a V8 may not be available, IN A MUSTANG!

they might as well make something called a Probe and just stop making the mustang... or even better we can call it a "Mustang III"...
i think there is a quote that something along the lines of... "those who are ignorant to history are doomed to repeat it".

Yah same here, a TT V6 from the factory floor would be badass, but no V8 would really suck. I think everyone would agree that nothing beats the sound and power of an American V8 from a Mustang.

they'll have a v8 with DOD. Hell, even if they have it in a special edition Mustang, the Mustang will always have at least some v8-ness.

I would sure hope so, the article i read said that upper management at ford was saying that an engine that had v6 economy with v8 power would be ideal. This may not happen for a while, but it is definitely a possibility with the new EPA regulations coming out. As for the 5.0, it may be the last big push before they stop selling v8 models.
Guess we'll have to see what happens.

well i don't think ford would spend the time and money building a new V8 to just take it away few years later and the decision on the new 5.0 was made recently after CAFE was passed.

not having a v8 on the mustang line would probably end up killing it... sadly... even though the v6 is what makes the mustang possible. It would just kill its image.
