ran across a deal. a 2001 cobra vert with 56k miles for $16,000 at about a $100 less a month if i traded in my 2005 auto gt with 26k miles. should i or would you  |

Personally, I would, but I am a much bigger fan of the 99-04 body style than the 05+.
In reality though, you're probably better off with your 05 auto....same power, and newer technology.

forgot to mentioned. drop top cobra is what i've always wanted. I traded in my camaro just to join the power of the stang all because i fell in love with the cobra. also considered trading it for an 08 gt 5spd. i miss the 5spd from previous 2000 gt

i would go for the cobra!!!! especially if that's what you want. i love the 00-04 body style too.

if you could get an 03/04 cobra the potential would be MUCH more and stock for stock...the 03 wins hands down.

herbstang are those mods u list for the cobra and if so what kind of horse power am i looking at. i just think the cobra has the best sound when modified. i like both body styles but eventually i would probably get rid of the 05 cus uts an automatic in which im not really a fan of. if my 05 was a stick i wouldnt consider. but to pay a $100 less a month considering the gas now adays i like the sound of that plus to have a vert in which i like better and to have a lil more power plus 5spd sounds even better. its a hard decision cus the warranty is about expired on 05 but can add xtended warranty to the cobra. so many options

Id keep the 05+ Auto. 99/01 Cobras are rather crap IMO, rather have a Mach1 over them honestly. now if it was a 03/04 you were looking into, thats an easy answer.

the only issue i have with verts is they don't handle too well in turns, something i enjoy. i prefer a stiffer body over taking the top down. but i think there's also things to look at like insurance...if you get the cobra and it's $200 more to insure a month than it's more expensive to own. but if insurance costs are equal, then go for what you love!
might as well get what you want while you can. you never know if you'll have that chance again.

Welded Full length sub frames, strut tower brace, and you can handle just fine in a vert. Hell, I took my STB off and handle just dandy in the twisties....even better when I get the STB re-installed.

I wish I could just tell you to go with what you are most passionate about but, in reality, it comes down to finances. Have you priced out monthly payments +insurance costs of both options?
