Ok, I am considering putting in gears and a T-lock. I currently have a 2000 5-Speed. I was curious as to what each gear would red line at after the gears were in. Thanks.

Do you mean what speed you will redline at?

Yeah in each gear, what speed would I red line at? Like now 3rd at 90, 4th 115 due to speed governor.

Yea that sounds about right for second. Now I just need to know what they would be if I had 3.73 gears.

You can shift at any RPM that feels good up till the Red Line. Factory red line for mine was 5,500 ,my current red line is set at 6,000 RPM
Red Line to me means max RPM to shift at before the rev limiter shuts you down Not sure exctly what your lookin for

Ok let me try and explain this again. I want to know how much the 3.73 gears will change my overall speed in each gear. Meaning I want to know how fast you can go in each gear (with the 3.73's installed) if you were shifting at red line.

Ex. Stock Gear Ratio (not entirely sure on these just making up numbers)

1st 20mph
2nd 50mph
3rd 90mph
4th 115mph (due to speed limiter)
5th 115mph (due to speed limiter)

What I need is the numbers for 3.73 gears.

stock 2.73 gears puts out .366 ratio of the tires to drive shaft (1 turn of the tires gives 2.73 turns of the driveshaft)

3.73 comes out to a .268 ratio. So as you can see by the ratios the drive shaft is doing more turns of course. Going by that .098 is the difference between the two gear ratios in percentage that is 9.8 percent increase in drive shaft turns per full rotation of the tire.

So basically since off the engine is 1:1 its going to be 9.8% more rpms over where you are at now. Going by that your limit in each gear should lower about 9.8 percent gear to gear~

I don't need to figure out what my difference in rpm will be. I need to figure out what the change in mph will be. I know it can be figured out by rpm and using the circumference of the tire but I don't want to take the time to do that. There has to be another guy out there that has a V6 5-speed with 3.73 gears that knows how fast the car is going at red line in each gear.

you have 3.27 stock you want 3.73 so the differance is 0.88

Multiply the 3.27 speed (MPH) by .88 and you have the 3.73 speed (MPH)

rpm = mph x gear ratio x 336 / tire diameter

issue is if your trans gear as stated below, I think yours might be different by a tad.

3.73 Gear Ratio:

1 - 2.95 Gear 5500 rpm - 39mph (42mph@6000)
2 - 1.94 Gear 5500 rpm - 59mph (65mph@6000)
3 - 1.34 Gear 5500 rpm - 86mph (93mph@6000)
4 - 1.00 Gear 5500 rpm - 115mph (125mph@6000)
5 - 0.63 Gear 5500 rpm - 185mph (199mph@6000)

this will work also but its .886 to be a bit more accurate.

Actually I found a calculator on the internet. It works nicely. It was created in excel specifically for the T-45 transmission. Just type in the gear ratio and tire diameter you want to run and it tells you your speed at different rpms. There is also a section where you can type in the gear and speed and it will tell you your rpm. It is pretty nice. Here is the link.

you dont have a t-45 as you have a T-5 plus different T-5s are geared differently so figure out the gears in your exactly~
