Well the X-charger is installed on my 2005 ford mustang after two rough days of working on it. Now my issue is that I can't get my car to start. The engine cranks, I get compression, I just can't get it to sustain. I followed the instructions the best I could. I'm not sure whats keeping things from starting. Anyone have any ideas suggestion or experience? I'm new here by the way. Any help is appreciated

Thanks
Aaron

When I first installed it the belt popped off because the idler bracket was a bit ,loose is it a possibility that it could be timing? I fixed the idler bracket and got the pulleys re-aligned. Whats the best way to check vaccum without guages?

Sounds like a vacuum issue to me too. It's getting enough spark to turn over and start...

A gauge is the only true way to do it and the easiest... you can probably go to Autozone and possibly rent one... if not you can pick one up for less than 60 dollars. If you are installing things like a Supercharger you'll probably need to use it again eventually

Would I have to pull the supercharger up and try to reseal it if its a vacuum leak? I'm a complete n00b so sorry for all the questions.

Well a vacuum leak can come from many places... like a hose that isn't hooked up properly or has a hole in it.... the first thing though is to figure out if you have a leak or not at all.. then go from there.

What sort of gasket did they ship with the supercharger? When I put the intercooler on the buick I had a real hard time getting it to seal properly with the garloc gaskets they shipped (green, pretty thick) ended up going back to two of the stock fiber style gaskets and instant success...

They shipped these pretty thick gaskets. I don't know what brand they were. Its a possibility.

Perhaps I didn't gap the new spark plugs correctly... Would something like this be the cause of the engine not being able to start?

if the engine isnt turning over then its most likely an electrical issue check all electrical connections, not sure i know when i installed the supercharger on my mustang it turned over but wouldnt start, my problem was i didnt clean off the terminals well enough when i installed the preprogrammed chip, so i took it out and cleaned them off better and it works fine. if the engine wont turn over at all check your battery to see if its good, ( ive left the door open too long doing things that ran down my battery) if the battery is good then check your connections at the alternator. check battery and engine grounds, if this is all good get back to me and ill see what i can come up with

This is where I'm going to start I think....thanks for helping me brainstorm guys. If regapping the plugs doesn't work I'm going to see what I can do to fix vacuum. Maybe I'll post if I'm successful in getting everything running tomorrow. It would make me happy as its one day before my b-day, and I've been having a rough month.

Yeah exactly...I'm thinking its electrical...I get compression and all that good stuff. I'm going to pull all six plugs tomorrow and regap them. The instructions to the x-charger manual call for .035 and I wasn't sure how to regap correctly though but my buddy has a regapping tool! I'll go from there.

also with a good battery your car should star without drive belts for a short period of time. so i dont think the loose pulley had anything to do with it.

Yeah it wouldn't run at all when it was flinging the belt off. I was able to fix the belt problem at least.

I'll go with the electrical problem. What kind of tuner did the supercharger come with to reflash your ECU?
