04 GT 5 speed. I have stock 3:27 gears .What are the advantages & disadvantages of switching to 3:73 ? My car is a DD. I am aware that 3:73 will make it rev a little higher.Would'nt that mean I would get worse gas milage ? Will there be that much of a differance in the way the car performs.
Is it really worth the money to change them.

you will gain quickness. It is sufficient. You will lose 2 mpg or so on the interstate, but may gain some in the city. It depends what kind of driving you do. If you drive 50 miles every day on the interstate, I wouldn't do it because you're gonna waste a lot more gas... but if most of your driving is in the city, go ahead and do it. You will typically see the same in city driving, perhaps a slight increase because the car can gain speed easier, thus reducing the fuel used.

ya I dont do much hwy driving mostly city.a couple of months ago I had left & right rear wheel bearings & seals replaced.in order to get the axles out had to move the abs/speed sensors a little.& would'nt you know it when we had everthing put back together the sensors didnt work.so I had to get 2 new ones $80 a piece.so if & when I do the gears cross my fingers I wont go through that problem again.

you will go quicker through the rpms, it will make your car about .25 tenths of a second faster.
you will lose a couple mpg on the interstate and maybe gain or stay even in the city.

Thanks SpectorV did not know that. Anyway when I have it done I'll do it at my local Steeda shop. They've done all the mods on my car so far & have done a really good job.
They'r a little bit pricey but I think it's worth it to get the job done right the first time.
