high idle

This doesnt happen every single time but often when I turn on the AC while driving, my car idles at about 2k RPM. And for some reason it seems to happen even more often when im low on gas. If I turn off the car for a couple minutes and leave the AC off when I start the car again, it seems to go back to normal. Anyone have an idea how to fix this? Thanks in advance

When you turn the a/c on the compressor comes on which draws power from the engine. Therefor the engine has to work harder. Thats why the revs go up a little.The computer will regulate the compressor going on & off while the a/c is on. So your revs will go up & down just a tad as the compressor go's on & off. As far as being low on gas I dont think it has anything to do with it.
