First of all, have you noticed yourself having traction issues with one tire gripping and going while the other spins where you need to buy a rear dif?
As far as other mods, tells us what you want out of your car: better handling around corners, bad ass looks, more horses under the hood.
One thing I will always suggest as a starter is a cold air intake. You will get about 6-8 more HP out of your V6 and your fuel efficiency should get a lil bump in the right direction.

the tlok is the oem ford unit that they put in the 8.8 and 7.5 inch rear ends (that are of course equipped with them as some are open diffs aka one wheel peal)

those work fine for street driving but at the track they are weaker and will eventually break (spider gears are the weak link) you can get an auburn diff and its stronger~ for just normal dd driving and street duty a tlok is fine.

Just so you know, 4.10's will hurt your highway fuel efficiency. Not sure how much that affects you but just letting you know.
Just start with a cold air like everyone else. It will be cheap. It will be easy. And it will make you feel good that you could do it yourself.

Oh yeah definetly, but you could replace your spark plugs and get some new wires. That will increase your mpg, not a lot tho but still!

Can you be more specific about the cold air intake? I just bought a 2002 V6 Mustang and it has a K&N air filter. I know that this is an upgrade over the stock air cleaner but what else would you recommend as an upgrade to this system?

The idea of inexpensive yet practical definitely peeks my interest.

I always consider labor costs to be a huge huge factor in which parts to get. Do you do work yourself or know a buddy that can help you so you don't have to pay someone? (Hell, midnight, I'll graduate the academy in mid June and be back in MD late June to help you with mods if you needed).
If you don't mind paying almost double for your motor oil, switch over to fully synthetic and that can free up power and help engine life. What is an extra $15 every 3000K miles?
If you already have a cold air then adding a freee flowing exhaust is the next basic mod. More are in so help get more air out. You can pick up cat-back exhausts for your car for about $300.
A flash tuner will do a little good on a near stock car and you can choose which octane level you want to run at. Costs slightly under $400
Underdrive pulleys change the size ratios of your alternator and crank pulleys so there is less of a parasitic load on the engine and more power goes to the wheels as opposed to auxiliaries. Costs about $80 + price of new belt.

Those are the cheapest basics

These will work on Chaotic's '96 V6 but what do you have?

I couldn't find anything after a quick look on Atomic Performance but these are good too
BBK Aluminum 3.8L Underdrive Crankshaft Pulley Kit (94-98 V6)

Thanks for the information Red Devil. Since my car, a 2002 V6, Automatic, is a daily driver and economy is very important, I'd like to stay with easy modifications.

I'll be looking into the cat-back dual exhaust systems as a way of freeing up more power without impacting my fuel economy. I drive close to 100 miles a day average in my work as a sales rep.

I change my oil every 3000 miles and add Lucas Oil Stabilizer every 3rd oil change to reduce friction and protect the engine.

I recently joined the Maryland Mustang Club in order to meet other Mustang enthusiasts. Let me know when you will be coming back to Maryland so that we can share some ideas. I'm in the process of detailing this car back to a new condition.

I'll be home this weekend for my girlfriend's graduation from Towson on Friday and then doing a cruise on Saturday. It is from Security Square mall by exit 16 of I-695 to CJ Pony Parts in Harrisburg, PA. (About a 2 hr drive starting at 1100). The place has competative prices and we are kind of expecting a discount in person but we'll see. Other than that, I'll be around intermittently from now until late June.

You would be lucky to get 3rwhp out of a 99-04 v6 with a cold air intake.

One of my client's sons is also graduating from Towson this week.

I'm staying close to home this weekend as I plan to do some detail work on my car. I'm going to "clay bar" the car and than polish it. I also want to detail the engine compartment a bit.

I'm coming back from surgery to remove my thyroid gland last month and need to pace myself. My wife doesn't want me overdoing things too much too soon.

She also reminded me that we have other projects to work on this long weekend!

I'm planning on having a set of dual exhaust installed sometime this summer.
